About the Job
Banner Health is currently seeking a Senior Director of Clinical Performance Assessment and Improvement-Inpatient to lead efforts across inpatient facilities in the Banner System. This position will be located in Phoenix, AZ at the Banner Corporate office. The Senior Director of Clinical Performance Assessment and Improvement-Inpatient has oversight and coordination for CPAI across the inpatient facilities and as such is pivotal to sustaining our current level of success. This leader will provide oversight in identifying, containing, managing and reducing patient safety harm within Banner Health entities.

The Senior Director of Clinical Performance Assessment and Improvement-Inpatient reports into the Clinical Performance Assessment and Improvement (CPAI) department. This department ensures that Banner Health's expected clinical practices that are defined and designed by Clinical Consensus Groups are implemented and being used effectively at all of our care delivery sites, and that improvement opportunities are identified and addressed appropriately.

Job Summary:
This position provides overall leadership for the company’s Quality Management services. It is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, and improvement of quality management and patient safety for all facilities within the company. It does this through direct supervision in the large facilities and through consultation and coordination in the smaller facilities. This position requires strong interface with other company functions such as Risk Management and Care Management teams. In addition, the position coordinates continuous survey readiness across the system for regulatory purposes.

Essential Functions
Responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the company’s quality management strategy throughout the organization; which includes incident reporting, sentinel event root cause analysis, medical staff peer review, focused studies, regulatory and accreditation compliance, and clinical process improvement. Provides for effective integration and standardization of these activities.
Provide leadership and direction for multidisciplinary process improvement activities, including the establishment of performance measures to attain clinical, operational, financial, and satisfaction outcomes related to quality and patient safety. Utilize/leverage system information technology to develop, report, and monitor data driven performance improvement.
Establishes and oversees the development and implementation of Quality Management Services short and long-range goals and objectives and determines the optimal progression to obtain these goals. Reviews analyses and reports of various activities to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives.
May provide direct supervision for Quality Management Directors at Banner’s large hospitals, and provide consultation and advice for those responsible for the Quality Management functions at Banner’s smaller facilities.
Direct the company’s continuous regulatory survey readiness program and serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies. Provide leadership for facility regulatory activities and oversees the company’s regulatory related website pertaining to current standards, activities, correspondence, tools, and toolkits, disseminating information as appropriate.
Monitors and disseminates regulatory information from state health departments and CMS conditions of participation.
Serves as a liaison with Risk Management and Legal to communicate and coordinate on issues of mutual interest.

Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare/business related field. Requires leadership experience typically attained with 5 years experience in a healthcare managerial position. Excellent leadership skills. Effective human relations and communications skills. Ability to identify and address customer needs in a team environment. Requires analytical and conceptual systems thinking and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters in a healthcare/business related field preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
