QA Director - Microsemi - Camarillo


Job description
Manage and develop the RFIS Division's Quality Assurance resources. Ensure appropriate level of quality engineering, configuration management and inspection resources are deployed to support the operation and associated programs. Establish and communicate assignments to the quality organization while mentoring department personnel in Quality & Configuration Management processes, tools, techniques and methods.
Make sound decisions, facilitating strategic resource allocation and the setting of critical priorities. This position will evaluate and hire qualified individuals when necessary to provide the appropriate level of Quality Engineering, Configuration Management and Inspection support to the Division.
Maintain the Division's Quality Management System to full compliance to ISO9001:2008 & AS9100. Serve as the Division's Quality Management Representative and facilitate all activities with the third party Registrar. Act as the primary interface with customer, Government and other external representatives.
Assist with the review of engineering designs and specification for translation into efficient manufacturing and quality control methods. This includes reviewing failure modes & effects analysis and process planning to ensure all technical requirements are met. Drive consistency through a disciplined approach to following established policies, procedures and process.
Support both Microsemi and outsourced production activities as required. Ensure effective implementation and utilization of quality related processing such as contract review, non-conforming material, preventive & corrective actions, internal audits, supplier management, calibration and customer satisfaction.
Desired Skills and Experience
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or physical science and at least 10 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include organizational management of direct reports at senior professional levels.
This position requires demonstrated technical knowledge of Defense, Aerospace and/or Homeland Security related engineering & manufacturing processes and technical knowledge of quality engineering tools and higher level quality system requirements.
Background and experience in the Aerospace industry including hardware development for high reliability, ground based and airborne applications.
Experience in proposal development, providing Quality related inputs, manpower & schedule planning and Quality/Configuration Management narratives.
Working knowledge of an industry standard MRP or EPR system.
Familiarity with hybrid RF assemblies. Working knowledge of IPC 610, J-STD and MIL-STD-883.
Must have knowledge of Total Quality Management in the following areas:
o Quality Tools, CE Diagrams, MiniTab, Pareto, DOE,
o Lean manufacturing
o Corrective Action Answer Techniques
o Continuous Improvement Techniques
o Surface Mount Technologies (SMT)
o Wire-bonding knowledge
o Electrostatic Sensitive Device & FOD Programs
o Functional Test Fundamentals
ASQ CQM and/or Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required)
