We are seeking a Director of R&D for fiber optic transceivers at JDSU's Milpitas site. The position will be responsible for managing all aspects of next-generation, short-wavelength transceiver development and will be part of a larger development team with groups in Milpitas, Ottawa and Singapore.

In this role, the candidate will provide technical leadership and manage program execution for multiple projects from the initial planning phase through production release. Candidates must ensure that the responsibilities of all development team members are clearly defined and communicated and aligned with the over-all business goals. In addition, the candidate will help develop and apply best practices in new product introduction.

This position will interface directly with customers on all aspects of development including product definition, schedule, status updates, and issue resolution. The ability to skillfully manage and interact with customers is critical to success in this role.




Desired Skills and Experience
Required Qualifications

•Experience developing and managing R&D teams in the communications industry, preferably with a company involved in the production of fiber optic transceivers
•Success designing and launching new products and technologies into the market which have contributed to the overall growth of their respective companies
•Ability to keenly assess execution issues in all parts of the development cycle, and provide thoughtful, effective solutions
•Demonstrated ability to work with large OEM customers and partners to define, synthesize and deliver products that meet their needs
•Experience working in a global marketplace and interacting with all levels of management
•Demonstrated ability to assess skills and lead a diverse group of professionals
•Masters or PhD in electrical engineering, solid state physics, optical communications or a related field
•Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, high-intensity development environment

MANAGER DOES NOT WANTING SOMEONE WHOSE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN IN ALL OF RESEARCH.
MANAGER IS SEEKING A “MARKETING THOUGHT LEADER” WHO IS SHARP
NEEDS TO HAVE MANAGED TEAMS BEFORE REMOTE-SINGAPORE…..THE CHALLENGE FOR THIS PERSON IS GOING TO BE MANAGING AND EXECUTING AND TO BE ABLE TO WEAR MANY HATS FROM THIS PERSPECTIVE, GUIDE PEOPLE AND WORK THROUGH A MATRIX ORGANIZATION.
MUST HAVE STRONG INTERFACE CAPABILITIES/PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH EXECUTIVE STAFF ON INITIATIVES
STONG LAUNCH EXPERIENCE
THIS PERSON MUST HAVE 15 TO 20 YEARS INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE-MANAGER PREFERS : PH.D CANDIDATE BUT WILL CONSIDER A STRONG MASTERS DEGREE CANDIDATE HAVING THE ABOVE SKILLS FOR THE MOST PART.
