Vice President - Health - PR - Edelman - Washington
Job description
Edelman’s DC office is seeking a VP with 8+ years PR experience with a specialty in healthcare communications, specifically working on health focused issue campaigns and consumer educational programs. You will also have an opportunity to grow and learn from best-in-class teams throughout the entire Edelman network. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented, client facing project manager with responsibilities including media relations and strategy, public affairs, and thought leadership initiatives.
The VP should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and strong understanding of how to communicate with teams and work from both client and agency sides. S/he should have a track record of leading profitable programs that have advanced client business goals. S/he should be a superb people manager and have experience successfully managing resources and budgets as well as helping win new business. S/he will be entrepreneurial and professional and have the confidence necessary to manage a team.
Major Responsibilities:
Help lead and coordinate multi-faceted communications projects with the goal of ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences at the right time through the right channels
Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact with ability to independently drive programming forward.
Deliver strategic communications counsel to client’s senior executives to ensure message consistency and alignment with business objectives and priorities
Help lead the development and execution of strategic communications plans
Ensure alignment between the multiple projects and activities within the account
Manage the development of program materials and the team’s quality process for all client deliverables
Oversee financial management of program budget including client billing and projections
Contribute to and lead new business efforts
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field
Ideally 8+ years’ experience in communications, 3+ years in health communications
Successfully deliver required outcomes in a role with ever-increasing levels of responsibility, authority, accountability and organizational impact
Proven track record in developing strategy for corporate communications effort and experience interfacing with senior leadership within an organization
Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrate strategic thinking, planning and strategic influencing capabilities
Listen attentively and responds constructively to the needs, viewpoints, and interests of the client and team members
Strong program management and ability to delegate while still maintaining quality control.
Strong writing and editorial skills
Experienced in client service with ability to respond quickly and decisively to changes in direction/client requests
Experience successfully managing large account teams as the day-to-day lead with several direct reports.
Demonstrate strategic thinking, planning and strategic influencing capabilities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
The vice president must have at least eight years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.
