Senior Quality Assurance Analyst - Lumension - Scottsdale


Job description
The Sr Quality Assurance Analyst performs complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling, and testing to assure that developed products meet design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. He/she will communicate with sprint team members as part of an SCRUM development life cycle and will be responsible to the team to ensure team deliverables are met and works closely with other team members to reach objectives. Typically requires four to five years of experience in development, research, or product testing.
Works with QA and Development Engineers in a lead role to flush out product requirements and related test scenarios before product has been coded in an Agile environment.
Works on a team developing software for IT security and endpoint management ranging from software and OS patches to collation of detailed system information as well as application of security controls at the user and machine level.
Helps to lead the QA efforts for a geographically distributed team
Writes test plans for specific releases containing multiple project efforts
Identifies and creates integration test scenarios based off functionality from other projects
Reviews automation efforts to ensure they have acceptable ROI before automation starts.
Understands QA metrics and helps generate necessary reports and metrics
Executes and records test results and ad-hoc testing
Seeks to find defects in all stages of development and drive to root cause and solid steps to reproduce
Asks the hard and un-popular questions.

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Skills
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Windows operating system family starting with Win2K3 and XP.
Basic understanding of network topology and elements (Active Directory, Proxy servers, SSL, etc.)
Able to be the champion for quality on a cross disciplined Agile team. Includes standing up for quality regardless of the due date and encouraging the team to do the right thing.
Ability to review disparate information and requirements, make an assessment, and take action that produces measureable results in a timely manner.
Understanding of Automation and Unit test principles to determine when automation is or is not effective
Manual test case creation and maintenance of test cases
Professional written and verbal communication
Attention to detail and standards when testing
Familiarity with non-Windows operating systems is a plus
Virtual environment technologies a plus
Required Experience
5-7 years in a Quality Assurance role, either automation or manual tester
Has generated at least 2-3 test plans for a component of a product release and/or the product release itself.
Produced documentation of test results for group and stakeholder review that is professional in appearance
