Job description
We are currently hiring a Senior Director of Advanced Development to join our Packet Networking team.

The Senior Director will build and lead an integrated hardware, software and test organization to prototype, develop and productize advanced technology in packet switching/routing, SDN, and NFV systems-level products for access, metro and core carrier infrastructure and carrier managed services applications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for recruiting and driving a high performance R&D team with operating system, virtualization, switching, routing and application technologies, FPGA, ASIC and system-level hardware expertise to rapidly prototype advanced technologies and work with other departments to productize them.
Responsible for project planning and budgeting, detailed product definition and specifications, project development execution, prototype fabrication and validation, transition to product organizations, and talent management of advanced development organization

Required Skills
Intel and ARM CPUs, FPGAs, ASICs, fixed and modular system HW, uboot, Linux, virtualization
Embedded data plane, control plane, and management plane for switching/routing
Application processing for security, storage, caching, and service assurance
Charismatic R&D leader who can recruit and rally their team to deliver advanced technology on aggressive timelines utilizing best practices for agile development
Operational experience to drive complex multi-geography programs to success
Required Experience
15+ years of experience as technical developer and engineering management leader with responsibility for silicon, hardware and software development organizations
Successful track record of building world class teams from scratch
Successful track record of delivering multiple, advanced, parallel programs on schedule
BS CS or EE required, MS CS or EE preferred
