POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Social Media Issues Communications will create and oversee social media issues and crises communications strategy for our family of pet products, and provide input and direction on potential issues and crises to social media community managers who are responsible for the day-to-day management of Nestlé Purina-owned social media platforms.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Develop and lead a Rapid Response Team to guide real-time management of emerging SM issues and crises, in close collaboration with other key disciplines.
• Guide development and implementation of issues and crisis management strategy for owned social media platforms.
• Understand and recognize emerging issues across social media channels. Develop and implement plans to address.
• Oversee monitoring, analysis and reporting of metrics, trends, and emerging issues across social media channels.
• Coordinate closely with brand marketing teams, internal subject matter experts and across Nestlé to ensure social media communications are aligned with company positions, plans and objectives.

Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or higher, with a preferred major in communications, journalism, public relations or related field
EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of 10 or more years of PR, digital marketing or social media communications experience.
• Minimum of 2 years managing social media communications as a primary responsibility
• Minimum of 2 or more years of experience with crisis communications management, social listening or issue identification
SKILLS: • Knowledge of current best practices on managing social media-driven crises.
• Demonstrated mastery of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs, Pinterest, etc., and a passion for social media.
• Strategic and creative thinker who can develop long-term strategies for how Purina handles emerging issues in social media.
• Strong team player who can build relationships and work collaboratively and cooperatively with different groups across a large organization, including interactions with executive leadership.
• Effective communicator who can clearly articulate complex or unfamiliar social media issues and ideas to internal audiences.
• Excellent writing skills. Ability to write in a clear, consistent and concise fashion for social platforms. Experience drafting messages on behalf of a large organization for use on social media.
