The Director, Technical Services reports to the VP Information Technology, CIO and works closely with the IT team, business leaders, service providers, and end users in support of help desk, infrastructure support and systems administration. Reporting to this position are Systems Administration and Technical Operations staff.
This position directs the Help Desk, Systems Administration, and Technical Operations functions at Annie’s, providing leadership for strategic direction and project management for objectives defined by the IT roadmap. This individual leads by example, guiding and inspiring his / her team for excellence in customer service and will also be available to provide hands-on service to end-users and tactical project initiatives as needed. The Director, Technical Services also serves as a key member of the IT leadership team, collaborating on projects, services and compliance with the CIO, Business Applications and Project Management leads.
Key Responsibilities:
Scope of responsibilities includes Directing; Help desk, end user computing, server architecture / support, data/voice networking, technical operations, and cloud services coordination.
Provides leadership coaching, motivation, evaluation and assistance to team members to ensure team work and high performance in delivery of group responsibilities.
Responsible for lifecycle management of systems infrastructure to ensure appropriate replacement of assets while leveraging technology to improve cost efficiencies.
Analyzes and predicts trends and develops long-range strategies designed to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness of the enterprise’s IT infrastructure.
Directs technology resources including resource level planning, recruitment, development and retention initiatives. Provides direction, tasks and priorities consistent with overall IT department plans. Ensures that adequate cross-training occurs and staff contingency plans are developed.
Maintains current knowledge of technical innovations in Desktop, Networks (Voice/Data), Server, Messaging, and cloud services.
Directs the purchasing process and relationships with suppliers and leasing organizations relating to technologies included within the scope of this job’s responsibilities. Reviews cost estimates for personnel requirements, new hardware, software upgrades or additions, and external consulting projects.
Working with the CIO, develops long-range computing architecture strategies. Provides company-wide direction on the use of emerging technologies. Develops plans for migration of technologies to necessary future directions.
Defines service level standards to ensure that problems are solved in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintains external links to other companies in our industry to gain competitive assessments and share information, where appropriate.
Works closely with cross functional business leads to ensure that needs are understood and that services provided meet those needs.
Considers impact to current and future business environments and processes, assessing upstream & downstream effect of system and reporting changes.
Provides leadership and follows best practice SDLC and Change Management controls to ensure compliance in support of SOX standards.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
BA/BS in Computer Science/ Information Systems, Business or equivalent work experience, MBA a plus.
7-10 years’ experience in Information Technology Infrastructure and Help Desk functions with increasing level of responsibility.
3-5 years’ experience in leading Infrastructure / Help Desk functions.
Demonstrated technical expertise in core technologies including: MS Office, Exchange, Lync; MS Server, SharePoint, MS SQL Server, Dell Servers; Juniper Networks, Avaya VOIP, etc.
Experience with IT procurement (e.g. financing, accounting, contracting, negotiating, etc.)
Inspire others through exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and support commitments in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience with Consumer Packaged Goods and/or Food and Beverage environments a plus.

Occasional travel may be required.
