Job description

The Director, Product Marketing will be accountable for global product marketing efforts to drive the successful introduction, adoption and penetration of PayPal's core, enhanced and new products, helping to build customer value proposition through innovative delivery of product marketing initiatives. You will ensure that all our products have a powerful market strategy value proposition prior to launch and will lead the go-to-market marketing streams for all key products. Once in market, you will track the effectiveness of our marketing, share best practices with internal stakeholders, and evolve product marketing strategies and executions in line with the agile product development model.
You must be customer-minded in your approach, strategic and analytical, full of creativity, and effective at communicating with internal and external partners. In your role, you will partner with diverse cross-functional teams to lead, execute, monitor and deliver results for various marketing initiatives. You must have the ability to succeed in a matrix environment, where success is dependent on your ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners in a positive, productive, and transparent way. The ability to influence and strike win-win deals is absolutely key.
Responsibilities:
Be the expert on customer needs and identify target market & segments to help define product offerings that solve customer problems.
Actively participate in Product organization's customer-driven product development process.
Develop the value proposition, positioning, messaging, and pricing that differentiate our products in the market.
Develop the strategic marketing framework for our products.
Create the chassis of global marketing assets that support marketing programs.
Work with cross-functional and regional partners on go-to-market launch activities including beta & full launches, customer experience optimization, and marketing requirements identification.
Work on developing and ensuring marketing message consistency throughout the end-to-end customer experience. Align messaging and programs with Brand and Product goals.
Work with internal and/or 3rd party agencies to develop and execute marketing deliverables.
Partner with Product to define product offerings.
Partner with Regional Marketing and customer segment owners to develop and execute regional marketing strategies and programs.
Individuals with the following skills and experiences:
The ideal candidate has experience with defining the marketing strategy, key objectives, target customer segments, messaging, and marketing communications necessary to drive customer acquisition, cross-sell, and engagement via multiple marketing channels.
Strong strategic and analytical skills
Fierce advocate for the customer and meeting the myriad needs of a diverse customer base
Excellent management and people skills to interact and/or lead cross-functional teams and third parties
Highly organized, with demonstrated skills managing a variety of tasks and work streams simultaneously
Strong communicator, with the ability to work effectively in a heavily matrixed, cross-functional environment
An abundance of creative problem solving skills
Energy, sense of purpose, and keen results orientation
Experience using PayPal and eBay is helpful
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. MBA preferred.
7-10+ years post MBA professional related work experience
Work experience in best-in-class consumer brands highly desirable
Experience marketing to both consumers and businesses highly desirable
Experience working in both online and traditional retail channels a plus.
