Director - Corporate Strategy & Development - Hillshire Brands - Chicago

Job Summary:

Hillshire Brands is seeking to add a Director to our fast-paced Corporate Strategy & Development department. The Director will report to the SVP of Corporate Strategy and Development who is a member of the Hillshire Brands executive team. The Director will have a leadership role in numerous strategy and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) projects, such as:

Evaluation of existing business profitability and growth opportunities
Identification of white space opportunities
Determination of industry structure / economics and competitive positioning
Identification and evaluation of acquisition targets
Development of M&A business propositions
Leadership of due diligence and integration teams

Because of the scope of the department's projects, members of Corporate Strategy & Development interact across all major corporate and operational functions and work directly with senior management.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Identifying critical business issues and growth opportunities, applying the necessary analytics, and structuring work plans to solve complex problems
Synthesizing findings and developing pragmatic recommendations for senior management
Managing assignments and resources over discrete time periods with minimal intervention
Productively engaging and collaborating with individuals at all levels and across all functional and geographic areas
Leading multiple cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
Evaluating M&A opportunities including commercial / technical assessment and valuation
Leveraging technical, analytical, interpersonal and management skills across all areas of deal execution including deal structure, due diligence, communications, negotiation, integration, and post-transaction operations

Qualifications:

An MBA
At least ten years of work experience, with some packaged goods industry experience. At least four of those years as a member of a top-tier consulting firm or investment bank
Excellent quantitative and communication skills (written, oral and presentation)
Knowledge of financial valuation techniques and inputs required and how to interpret valuation output
Must possess ability to develop relationships and inspire confidence and trust from internal and external partners at all levels
Experience in directing and/or managing cross-functional teams
Demonstrated resourcefulness
