SVP - Big Data - Information Management - CA Technologies - Islandia
Job description
We are conducting a search for an SVP, Big Data - Information Management to work within our global IT organization in our headquarters in Islandia, NY.
This executive level position is responsible for providing vision and leadership and overseeing the management of a broad array of IT functions, specifically Information Management and Shared Services (EAI and Testing), to achieve the company's overall IT strategy. The successful candidate will collaborate with company senior leadership to assess organizational challenges and global trends and make decisions and create solutions to shape the future for CA's transformational opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Effectively develop an overall information management strategy for the organization including the big data strategy. This includes getting buy-in from executive management as well as the information consumers in the organization, setting the appropriate governance to ensure correct implementation and refresh of the strategy over time, and implementing the technology and business process components for the strategy. This strategy should position information as a strategic and competitive asset for the organization and create a data driven decision-making culture.
• Technology and operational execution of master data management. This includes Data Stewardship for Customer and Product data as well as operationalizing and institutionalizing Data Governance and Data Quality.
• Information Architecture to support all CA IT Business Solutions. This includes the socialization and ever greening of the conceptual data model, information architecture principles, semantic metadata model, data design standards, and authoritative data sources.
• Information Integration to support the transactional and analytical data needs of all CA IT Business Solutions and Business Processes. This includes development and maintenance responsibilities for the Enterprise Information Warehouse and ETL (Extract Transform & Load).
• Application Integration to support message level transactional integration for all CA IT Business Solutions and Business Processes. This includes the Enterprise Service Business for CA.
• Technology execution for Business Intelligence Tools. This includes partnership with business stakeholders to select the most appropriate tools for advanced analytics including big data analytics, nurturing of the information consumer community at CA with sponsorship and best practice demonstration and development of reporting and analytic solutions as needed.
• Quality Assurance services for all CA IT enterprise projects.
• Work with the Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Security Officer to ensure CA’s information architecture drives the design of privacy and data security into all internal technology solutions.
• Oversee the planning, organization, and management of the assignments and operations at the strategic level and build and execute on any and all IT functions. This position determines, builds, and owns all internal customer and cross-dependency interactions, determines and builds external relationships and maintains executive relationships. As a partner to the business at the executive level, this role is informed of the changing business needs and oversees the planning and execution of change initiatives, ensuring alignment with the desired outcomes.
• Drive the institution of a culture of excellence with regard to staff development and performance. This role must ensure the team is employing effective resource planning and utilization and acquiring, retaining and continuing to develop key talent.
• Oversee the development of the IT operating expense and capital budgets and expense management displaying proven financial aptitude and fiscal responsibility.
• Oversee the effective evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology, ensuring selected products and services provide value and satisfy related requisites. Direct involvement in significantly large IT contracts is required and this position provides final decision and gains approval.
Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements / Skills
• Typically 15 or more years of increasingly responsible IT experience with 10 or more years of leadership experience.
• Executive management and leadership skills to create a vision and mobilize and empower teams to achieve. Ability to build and execute on any and all IT functions.
• Outstanding strategic planning capabilities and knowledge of operational strategy and planning.
• Thorough understanding of CA's and IT's global strategies, goals and objectives. Oversee the alignment with team goals.
• Proven delivery record with a passion for elevating the use of data as a strategic and competitive corporate asset.
• Relationship management skills to collaborate and partner with senior decision makers in the company.
• Theoretical knowledge of data engineering and analytical methods coupled with pragmatic delivery of solutions and business results.
• Experience in operationalizing Data Governance and Data Quality.
• Experience in leading major Information Management programs (e.g. Master Data Management, Data Warehouse, and Business Intelligence).
• Expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies around the use of information.
• Knowledge about developing business cases for technical projects with a lot of uncertainties.
• Familiarity with the major big data solutions and products available in the market.
• Familiarity with different modeling techniques for data modeling and predictive modeling (including big data solutions such as Hadoop, MapReduce and/or HBase).
• Knowledge and familiarity with Agile analytic techniques and Six Sigma Lean methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, influencing, and negotiating skills.
• Outstanding ability to drive and implement change initiatives within a global organization and execute organizational change management at the executive level.
• Outstanding ability to lead, coach, develop and motivate multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams.
• Proven ability to understand the long-term ('big picture') and short term perspective of situations.
• Proven financial skills to effectively develop and manage budgets and control costs.
• Business travel of approximately 25 percent yearly is expected for this position.
• Bachelors in Computer Science/Business Administration/Operations Research/Statistics or related field. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
