Director - Plant Engineering - Materion Technical Materials - Providence, Rhode Island


Job description

We have an open opportunity for a Director of Plant Engineering at Materion Technical Materials to lead the facility’s manufacturing groups to support specific cost reduction and productivity improvement objectives. This role will be the leader of capital expenditure projects coordinating efforts of the manufacturing Engineers and Maintenance personnel to ensure cost, quality and implementation are effectively maintained.

Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee Facilities Engineering and Maintenance Personnel activities
Assist with coordination of capital budgeting process and execute capital projects for an annual budget up to $5M.
Generate, approve and support engineering capital projects
Coordinate projects with relevant groups including Operations, Marketing, Security & EH&S
Provide direct support to resolve immediate production & quality problems as well 8D and CCA activities
Project control and failure mode management utilizing advanced methods such as SPC, cellular concept manufacturing, data acquisition, CAD, FMEA, DOE/Optimization, Lean Sigma methodologies.
Manage employee performance, goals & objectives, performance reviews, corrective action and recommendations on hiring decisions.

Desired Skills and Experience

Must have excellent project management skills & ability to manage multiple complex projects.
Must possess broad industrial facilities experience to include structural, electrical and mechanical issue resolution.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be highly organized with a strong ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to work well with changing and/or competing priorities.

Education & Experience

BS in an Engineering discipline required with additional continuing education in technologies related to design of mechanical & electrical equipment, process troubleshooting and quality improvement
15+ years of manufacturing experience required
10+ years of plant engineering
5+ years of management/supervisory experience
