Data Technology is looking for a seasoned and high performing Senior Manager, Business Intelligence to accelerate efforts and be a major part of PayPal's data-centric culture. With your strong people management experience and in depth knowledge of various BI tools, you will be a leading a highly talented Business intelligence team for developing innovative and competitive data solutions. We're looking for a hands-on leader who is passionate about mining big data, turning data into insights, and making an impact through rigorous analysis, creative storytelling, and timely actions. She/he is responsible for helping internal partners/stakeholders make informed strategic and operational decisions. In addition, the Senior Manager will provide leadership and guidance to Enterprise wide analytics initiatives and opportunities. This role currently has direct reports and budget responsibility for up to 10 employees.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively, and efficiently with all internal and external partners and stakeholders, to ensure alignment and prioritization of goals and resources across organizational initiatives
Manage a team of technical and analytical resources in the delivery of data technology solutions at an Enterprise and/or
Business Unit level
Partner with the business leadership teams, providing the business analytic support to help drive decisions that are critical to the ongoing growth of the business.
Be a though-leader. Proactively drive and influence the decision-making processes by delivering key insights and outcomes within the business leadership teams.
Manage the ongoing development and improvement of strategy and intelligence practices, delivering key recommendations and supporting the strategic direction of the business.
Responsible for managing all aspects of Business Intelligence including initiation of the RFP process, Vendor Selection, Study Design, Contract Execution, Budget Management
Manage external vendors and consultants to enable effective and efficient project execution
Forecasting and communicating systems administration and integration impacts and issues across all levels of the organization as appropriate.
Active in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and coaching a team whose combined skill set meets the current and future needs of the organization.
Active with mentor and leadership activities to improve PayPal's BI application capabilities.
Will participate in evaluating and adopting relevant new technologies that improve the company's processes, as well as its value proposition to the corporate business functions.
Oversee the completion of special studies as directed by the company and/or group leadership team.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the company to manage the development of processes, tools and outputs that support market intelligence systems and processes.
Identify, develop and communicate best practices in business intelligence and analytics to the organization.
Develop and maintain relationships across the business with special focus on roles that are heavy consumers of data for analytical purposes
Deploy solutions at multiple levels in the organization ranging from deep data analysts to the most senior executives
Ensure compliance to IT policies, standards, practices, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources.
Requirements:
Degree in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, Operational Research, Statistics, and Economics. Top-tier performance ratings from current and prior employers.
6+ years of management experience, track record of attracting top talents, developing a successful analytics team, and working with cross functional teams to launch new product and optimize business levers.
Track record of attracting top talents, developing a successful business intelligence reporting & analytics team, and working with cross functional teams to launch various solutions.
Advanced knowledge of big data analytics technology stack, statistical analysis software, and scripting languages - Hadoop/Pig/Hive/ Hbase/Teradata/Tableau/MicroStrategy/Essbase/QlikView; Python/PERL/RUBY.
8+ years' experience in Analytics, within the relevant domains of payments, risk, marketing, media and advertising, social network, etc.
Experience working in a fast-paced, iterative, agile development environment.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audience. Comfortable to lead and influence without authority.
Data expert who can translate business requirements into detailed technical requirements and project plans.
Working knowledge of ETL, SQL tuning and efficient coding techniques.
