Job description
The Director, Business Systems Architecture (BSA) plans, organizes, and controls all aspects of Prudential Retirement’s Business System Architecture practice, and directs the activities of all Business Systems Architects. The Director, Business Systems Architecture sets the direction for and provides comprehensive support for the definition of complex, end-to-end business systems solutions. The BSA Director, working with IT Strategic Planning and Enterprise Architecture is also responsible for defining and implementing the Business Systems Architecture planning model and roadmap. The position will report to the head of Enterprise Architecture.

The Director, BSA consults with IT and business leadership in the analysis of short and long range business requirements and recommends innovative, integrated, and scalable solutions that address immediate needs while anticipating the future impact of changing business requirements. On a day to day basis the BSA Director supports less experienced BSA’s and seasoned individual contributors in the interpretation of business requirements to establish the business solution framework to which a technical design will conform. The BSA Director is positioned within Retirement Information Technology Services (RITS) and is broadly responsible for ensuring that solutions to business process problems are both well aligned to the specific business needs identified and consistent with the business strategy, IT strategy and enterprise architecture direction.

In this capacity the BSA Director will lead a team of Business Systems Architects to:
Translate business requirements into organizational, process and technical reality.
Use their cross functional expertise to understand and align multiple end to end business processes, business rules and IT platforms to create technical solutions that increase organizational effectiveness and contribute to the realization of strategic goals.
Drive alignment and integration of solutions across Prudential Retirement while supporting business efforts. In this capacity the BSA Director works with both the Business Relationship Managers, as well as other business and IT stakeholders.
Additionally, the BSA Director is responsible for BSA Team performance management and resource management as well as the growth and training needs of BSA associates.

Job Responsibilities:
Establishes the business systems architecture framework model that will govern solution planning in accordance with the business and IT strategy and enterprise architecture direction.

Plans, organizes, and controls the activities of all Business Systems Architects.

Responsible for directing the development of integrated systems solutions with the focus on the end to end business processes, and the customer experience frequently involving multiple platforms, software, technologies and tools.

Leads the development of the conceptual process architecture and participates in architecture strategy sessions in order to ensure design recommendations remain relevant to leadership’s strategic vision.

Conducts and/or participates in business process analysis in order to understand business complexities and constraints and recommends technical improvements.

Partners with senior leaders to bridge the gap between strategy and execution while understanding the relationship between complex business functions.

Provides insight to the Technology Leadership team on impacts to RITS of upcoming project solutions being considered.

Desired Skills and Experience

Ability to take a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and understanding of linkages across strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance

Hands-on experience with developing and implementing business systems architecture planning frameworks (e.g., Component Business Models, Process Models, Use Case Models, Six Sigma).

The ability to visualize and create high-level models (rigorous information-rich diagrams) that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business systems architecture

15+ years of Retirement Industry, and/or Financial Services experience required.

Combination of experience in business operations and information technology.

Strong positive leadership skills with demonstrated ability to navigate through a dynamic environment.

Knowledge of Prudential Retirement systems and platform capabilities and integration

Extensive knowledge of Prudential Retirement’s service offering and business processes and/or related retirement industry services and processes.

Ability to manage multiple complex projects and conflicting priorities.

Superior relationship management skills with ability to partner and build professional relationships in a cross-functional environment.

Ability to get stakeholder buy-in through sound reasoning.
