Job Description

Director, IT Controller
 
Your challenge:
 
We challenge you to direct and lead the Finance and Accounting function in all of the major financial cycles of Planning, Reporting, and Analysis in order to deliver accurate and consistent financial / statistical information for IT and PGP North America management team enabling them to financially manage these important organizations as part of Global Philips. 
 
Your Responsibilities:
 
•        Strategy and Analysis: As a member of IT management team, analyze and model strategic choices and their financial impact on the results of the IT function. Track the realization of these strategies and proactively raise visibility to potential blocking factors in realizing the benefits. 
•        Financial Reporting and Analysis: Direct and manage the overall reporting and analysis process for the function; activities include the definition of reports and associated system requirements for the new financial reporting system; and the gathering, processing, reporting, and analysis of financial and statistical data sourced from over 100 operational reporting units which are rolled into the total IT results. 
•        Financial Oversight of Philips Shared Services: Oversee the financial aspects of the services delivered from IT Application and PGP Shared Services. Reconcile charges against activities performed, billing to the appropriate Sectors and outside cost centers, allocation activities to the various units within IT. Work with Shared Services and Sector Management to improve process flows and cost transparency throughout the chain. 
•        Financial Performance Management: Provide input on the IT and PGP financial performance to the IT Controller for monthly result reporting and analysis on financial performance for the other financial cycles (AOP & ROFO). 
•        Business Controls: Ensure that an appropriate level of business controls is implemented and executed, in particular in the area of investments, program and project management, risk management on project commitments and IT asset management (software licenses, capitalized software).

•        Seniority and integrity. Need to have broad based experience in IT, business unit, sales and service field organization, and manufacturing factory entity to have integrity with executive management to participate in executive business decisions. Need to have substantial international experience to be effective in global business situations. 
•        Clear, concise, compelling communicator. Always brought into situations, often with upper management, where two parties have difficulty to communicate messages. Provide context and backdrop for both parties. Able to talk in ‘language’ of both parties. 
•        Dispute resolution. Identify, highlight, and engage with executive management when different opinions of facts are discussed in meetings. Keep issues visible until resolution, not allow open issues to linger in organization. Often drive meetings to settle disputes among executive management and between IT and Sector leaders. 
•        The job requires you to face several key issues. 
•        Completion of Integration of IT Finance and PGP NAM Financial organizations into effective and efficient team. 
•        High pressure environment where decisions need to be made quickly and due dates need to be met constantly. Involves significant work to gather best available information from all sources (finance, operations, businesses, etc.) and then to participate in executive decisions to secure the best and fastest resolution for Healthcare. 
•        Participate in decision-making by VP IT, Sector CIO, Regional Executives and IT and PGP Management. Examples include annual target setting, monthly financial reporting, corrective action preparation and financial process improvements between shared services and sector. This does not just mean explaining the cost levels or process, but also bringing together the various parties and participating in cost decisions and process improvements with the executive team. All examples include direct questioning and review by Executives of Regions, Sectors, and Philips. 
•        Keep professional knowledge up to latest Philips accounting and finance standards. 
•        Ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial / statistical data for each financial cycle (actuals, AOP, and ROFO) in a global organization consisting of hundreds of operating units and many business units; understanding the data and organizing the story behind the data including proposed corrective actions where appropriate. 
 
We are looking for:
 
•        MBA 
•        At least 10 years of working experience in the field of finance and accounting 
•        Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis (ability to translate financial data quickly into transparent management information for top management) 
•        Ability to work effectively with Executive Management of IT NAM as well as Sector HC CIO and IT Controller. 
•        Ability
to build effective relationships and global financial network, dealing with all key CFOs and Controllers in the various NAM Sectors. 
•        Build organizational capabilities under high pressure with team members spread between North American and Europe. 
•        Influence and mobilize people even without formal authority 
•        Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
•        Experience with Philips accounting preferred
