Director - Actuarial Services - Kforce - New York


Job Description

A world class health care company in NYC seeks a Director, Actuarial Services position is responsible for all actuarial activities related to the Company's commercial business. In addition, provide actuarial support and analyses for all Lines of business. Directly be responsible for determining premiums, developing rating structures, and evaluating rating systems and methodologies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Monitor experience under Company's Commercial line of business and develop reports for Senior Management. Be responsible for all rate filing as well as rate manual development activities for the Company's Commercial products. Participate in the planning and preparation of our future entrance in the Exchange and other changes under the Health Care Reform. Assist in other actuarial functions, such as IBNR, Medicare bids, and other actuarial analyses. Oversee and participate in the pricing of existing and new products, benefits, and group-specific benefit designs. Provide data analysis and analytical support to the departments reporting to the Vice President of Underwriting. Maintain data integrity, evaluate alternatives for accessing data and develop data models and templates for use within multiple departments. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and perform monthly analysis identifying opportunities to reduce medical cost and utilization and provide recommendations to senior management. Research, evaluate and analyze medical care cost trends by region, market segment and product line and conduct variance analysis with respect to utilization and unit costs. Analyze product and segment performance, incorporating both historical observation and insight into prospective trends. Develop business plans containing forecasts of future financial performance. Interact with outside actuarial consulting expertise as needed.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications Summary: a minimum eight years of Actuarial experience is required. Also Required:
A Bachelor's Degree
Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills are required
Intermediate SAS skills are also required
Ability to handle premium rate calculations, required reserves, plan design, trend analysis, rate table construction, actuarial research, or systems development
Ability to explain actuarial assumptions and methods for projects of moderate scope to a non-actuarial audience
