Principal Project Manager (Network Deployment) - Ericsson - Dallas
Job Description
This role will be responsible for executing programs and projects in our Project Management Office within the organization in North America (RNAM).
The Project Manager Consultant will improve profitability and customer satisfaction by managing large and complex projects. This person is expected to be successful at the scheduling, tracking, and implementation of Ericsson derived turnkey projects supporting key customer deliverables to the highest customer satisfaction, while driving Cost, Quality, and Timeliness.
Project Planning:
1) Accountable for planning, prioritizing and executing projects and/or programs by working with Account Manager, Operations, CTO, Program Managers and customers.
2) This includes project activities such as project procurement, integration, time, cost, scope, planning and project initiation.
3) Develops required project documentation identifying project goals and tasks and generating assignments consistent to meet objectives
4) Establishes change management procedures, including evaluation and communication for project duration.
5) Develops reporting strategy for project.
Relationship Building:
1) Core 3 participation and co-lead; ability to organize and lead a matrixed project team.
2) Maintains clear communication with customers regarding mutual expectations and monitors customer satisfaction
3) Builds business relationships beyond the project environment
4) Organizes and leads a matrixed project team as required
5) Provides feedback and focus to all team members.
Project Execution:
1) Takes responsibility for project and actively executes to project plan while maintaining quality standards
2) Ensures all commitments are met in accordance with project goals/objectives
3) Demonstrates control of equipment deliveries, service costs, project activities and customer hand-over requirements
4) Good understanding of project data to predict project success.
Project Financials/Margins:
1) Responsible for project financial health including scope control, change orders, revenue, and margin.
2) Ensures strategy for cost control is used
3) Ensures an on-time and in-budget project
4) Responsible for reporting project financial and schedule progress based upon project goals
Manage Risks and Scope Changes:
1) Performs risk management
2) Manages change, formulates action plans, mitigates risk to minimize schedule delays and costs
3) Actively takes advantage of change opportunities and recommends new or revised strategies for project integration
Results Focused:
1) Effectively manages closure of project through customer final acceptance.
2) Understands and assures quality standards are met on assigned deliverables
3) Evaluates and communicates final project status
4) Utilizes contract information to maximize success of project
5) Actively identifies efficiencies for future implementations.
Project, Processes and Tools:
1) Excellent knowledge and understanding of Ericsson PMO process and tools including PROPS-C, Clarity, MORE tool, SAP, and SRM.
2) Adheres to Ericsson’s competence management framework for Project Managers and related certification processes.
3) Works within defined framework or responsibility
4) Possesses excellent project tool skills
5) Drives the use of project document control and management.
Business skills should include excellent leadership & negotiation skills, strong customer orientation, excellent conflict management skills, excellent analytical & problem solving capability, excellent communication skills both oral and written, a strong business minded consultative approach with focus on profitability & margins.
Desired Skills & Experience
Minimum Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree, preferably in a science, business or telecommunications discipline, or a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in a related field
• Ten plus years of successful experience in project management and/or related functional area in a communication systems company.
• Must have strong technical skills, including knowledge and relevant experience in the turnkey deployment of the wireless infrastructure to include: RF, Transport, Microwave, and/or Fiber for major wireless carriers.
• Current PMP Certification or is actively pursing professional project management certification
• Demonstrated leadership experience by having led large teams either in a line management or project related capacity.
• Strong financial/profit and loss knowledge/training
• Highly developed working knowledge of business process, including tender and sales
• Highly developed systems solutions, service products, service domains, network, and specific tool knowledge.
• Excellent working knowledge of Ericsson Business Processes; Good knowledge of Ericsson products
