Director Engineering
Sunnyvale, CA
This is a Director level position overseeing a staff of over 300 engineers and other professionals. The director of Engineering is responsible to maintain engineering service and support to Strategic Business Units and Operations. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics- Naval and Marine Systems with dotted-line reporting to the Vice President of Marine Systems.
The Engineering Department supports a variety of developmental and production programs including power & propulsion generation and missile launch systems for the U.S. Navy. The successful candidate must lead the department in its support of an integrated business that provides products throughout their life-cycle; i.e. conception, design, production, and support. The Department also provides key resources for business capture, technical outreach, business development, and the businesses research and development efforts.
The Engineering Director is responsible for successful execution of the Marine Systems Strategic Plan, providing required support to the business units, managing the departmental budget, maintaining technical excellence and leadership, administration of engineering processes and procedures, managing the businesses advanced technology business development, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
Desired Skills & Experience
A minimum of 10 years of management experience; A technical degree required; Significant demonstrable success managing large groups of technical professionals; Experience in continuous improvement processes, CMMI, and workforce engagement; and Superior leadership, communication and collaboration skills are a must
