Vice President/Account Manager – Market Research Blackstone Group - Chicago
Job Description
The Blackstone Group is an international full service marketing research firm headquartered in downtown Chicago. We are looking for a proven leader who is passionate about research, meets goals, and provides value-added solutions to clients. The Vice President will develop and manage marketing research business in key practice areas, emphasizing education, insurance and financial services, and/or satisfaction and loyalty, helping clients reach their goals by providing high quality, actionable insights and customized solutions.

This is a senior level position reporting to the President. The successful candidate will manifest the potential to grow into the role of Senior Vice President within one to two years.
The Vice President/Account Manager has these client service/account management responsibilities:
Manage and develop relationships with high-level client decision makers through ongoing communication.
Serve as a knowledgeable research partner and provide expertise to prospective and existing clients.
Deliver superior client service and meet or exceed client expectations.
Evaluate new proposal and bid opportunities and write compelling proposals.
Expand visibility and strengthen position with existing clients by deepening the relationship. Long term, establish Blackstone as a research partner of choice.
The Vice President/Account Manager has these management responsibilities:
Lead a team of project directors and research analysts in the planning, design, and successful completion of projects. Take ownership for quality execution of all projects undertaken by the team.
Report and present findings to clients.
Provide value-added insights on projects to fulfill Blackstone’s mission of providing strategic advantage through research insight.
Directly or through other staff, maintain contact with clients for all phases of projects, ensuring smooth communication at all times.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with support departments, including programming, field, tab and charting teams.
Ensure that client deliverables are consistent with or higher than industry standards.
Desired Skills & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a BA/BS in social sciences, liberal arts, or business, with a master’s-level degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years experience in primary market research, including on the supplier side.
At least 5 years of experience in one or more practice areas of focus (education, insurance and financial services, satisfaction and loyalty).
Qualitative and quantitative research expertise, ideally with an emphasis on quantitative.
Demonstrated initiative, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
A good motivator, skilled at mobilizing internal resources for proposal development, project design, and execution.
A good communicator, with strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to see the big picture while remaining closely involved in day-to-day research. Someone who gets her/his hands dirty – writing reports, looking at data, working with details as necessary.
Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and urgent client needs.
Ability to master budgeting, project costing, profitability, and business planning.
