Job Description
The Product Quality Organization responsible for leading the drive to assuring and improving the quality of our products. This not only means the physical hardware that the consumer buys but the total experience that they buy when purchasing a Motorola product. The software and operating system are now the main drivers of customer satisfaction in our devices and therefore our biggest focus is on ensuring that these experiences are properly planned and validated.
This position works closely with the leadership of Product Development (hardware and software) and specialized Technology Teams to ensure that all lessons learned and best practices are prioritized, addressed, document action plans, identify designrisks and manage those risks. This role also leads development and improvement of quality practices in the product development organization.
Major Responsibilities:
Designs techniques to ensure the maintenance ofquality and customer satisfaction.
Provides technical expertise to improve processesand drive implementation of those processes to increase efficiency and high-qualityconsumer experiences.
Develops root cause analysis work processes,corrective action, and process improvement methodology for highly complexproducts and processes.
Leads the organization in developing methods andprocedures to test various stages of the overall hardware and softwareplanning, design and development processes. Leads very complex projects acrossthe Product Development and Technology Team organizations – including SoftwarePlanning, Software Design, Hardware and Development and Integration teams.
Leads the team in establishing automated software testing methods and in-device diagnostic capabilities.
Drives the organization to establish/refine processmanagement on significant and unique issues and/or unusually complex problemswhere analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles and/or solutions that are highly creative.
Manage the team chartered with functional areaquality control audits, formulates recommendations and reports results tobusiness leadership.
Lead development and maintenance of the qualitysystem across mobile devices and resulting annual quality plan
Partner closely with Supply Chain and Customer(Go-To-Market) quality organizations.
Desired Skills & Experience
Specific Knowledge/Skills
The ideal candidate has a strong engineeringbackground in the consumer products field, especially in software.
Minimum of 10 years progressively complex engineering and/or quality project management and organizational leadership experience
Experience launching high tech consumer products,preferably in the mobile device industry
Experienced at creating formal networks involving coordination amonggeographically and functionally diverse groups including externalsuppliers/vendors/customers.
Experience as prime consultant and organizationspokesperson on product quality and related large projects that affect theorganization’s long-term goals and objectives.
Have been in VP role for the last 3-5 years.
