Job Description
The position involves contributing to the implementation of continuous Generator Product Line improvements to increase the product market share and maximize earnings. Role will drive innovation, harmonization and product line improvements through global generator workshops. Thoroughly document job activities through written reports. In this position one will function as a program engineering lead who is responsible for the following:- Full understanding of all benchmark (and Value Generation Program (VGP)) initiatives and corresponding levers of influence.
- Development of individual benchmark programs/projects in coordination with applicable
generator sector teams from central engineering (OM / SM), design engineering and operations (manufacturing).
- Assist in the development of benchmark program/project workflows in conjunction with
sector teams. Workflows to include controlling procedures and definition of clear and quantifiable program measures / targets.
- Full understanding of all benchmark programs and implementation plans to ensure all
end goals are in alignment to ensure final success. (EoY targets, resource load planning, bundling of projects for implementation, manufacturability, etc. )
- Full interaction with assigned benchmark project teams to ensure programs progression by assisting in the removal of organizational and technical / communication barriers.
- Full interaction with design engineering to develop project scope, deliverables, schedule and budgetary needs. Report monthly status and cost control measures.
- Providing support to the Benchmark (and VGP) implementation manager as required.
- Create/ maintain / update Product Design Specification (PDS) for PL.
- Process internal & external requests for engineering support
- Develop preliminary project scope & business case documentation
- Product Risk Management support
- Maintain PDP Compliance for H2 Product Line
- Define Program / Project “Bundles” for H2 Generator configuration
- Author Project Design Briefs
- Develop Project Plans
- Conduct project “kickoff” meetings for new product development efforts
- Communicate Budget TDT; Resource Plan; Project Prioritization
- Program / Project Closure reporting.
Desired Skills & Experience
Project Management Institute or equivalent certification required. Experience and proficiency with project management is required. Strong communication skills (presentation and networking) are required. Experience with MS Project, MS Office Suite, FMEA, QFD, LEAN and Six Sigma required. Ability to lead and mentor personnel of various technical disciplines in extended team setting. Design and manufacturing knowledge of generator components is required.In addition, the preferred candidate would have the following skills / capabilities:
- Primary experience in power generation design engineering and / or manufacturing engineering
- Ability to conduct high level external / internal customer meetings
- Ability to quickly identify issues and propose solutions
- Strong organizational knowledge (Eng, supply management, order management, CBF)
- Extensive knowledge of the Product Development Process (PDP)
- Experience developing and coordinating complex programs using Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) system
- Control and maintain the product configuration via change management system
- Plan and align design effort with R&D objectives
- Ability to lead cross functional global teams
- Experience with standard business / organization operations
- Strong understanding of organization responsibilities & functions
- Knowledge of Risk Management and quality oriented
- Self-motivated and high level of initiative
