Job Description
We are seeking a creative and experienced scientist to lead efforts to discover and develop novel peptide therapeutics. This individual will play a central leadership role in the identification of new potential targets, discovery and advancement of novel, lead peptide therapeutics, and critical evaluation of new opportunities. This position will report to the Vice President of Biology.
- Identification and proposal of novel peptide targets and technologies;
- Critical scientific evaluation of potential internal and external opportunities;
- Successful management of external contract research and manufacturing organizations;
- Analysis of scientific data and effective translation into both strategy and tactics;
- Active participation and leadership within Ironwood drug discovery and development teams
Desired Skills & Experience
The candidate should have peptide or protein therapeutics experience in the areas of:
- Biology and pharmacology, Metabolism and pharmacokinetics, Synthesis and manufacturing, and Formulation and stability.
- Passion for drug development;
- Able to work effectively in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment;
- Good judgment and excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills;
- A Ph.D. in peptide pharmacology or peptide, organic, or medicinal chemistry;
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience is required;
- Direct supervisory experience or management of outsourcing efforts is required.
