Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) enables customers of all sizes to run their applications on Amazon’s industry leading cloud computing infrastructure. Amazon EC2 reduces the time required to obtain and boot new server instances to minutes, allowing customers to quickly scale capacity, both up and down, as their computing requirements change. Amazon EC2 changes the economics of computing by allowing customers to pay only for capacity that they actually use.
The Amazon EC2 team is growing rapidly, and we are seeking a Principla Product Manager with strong product and program management experience in platform level products or services. This leader will define and drive the product strategy and roadmap that will help us scale this business as the leading cloud computing provider in customer satisfaction, operational performance and market segment share. This role is focsed on large-scale projects and initiatives to further grow the EC2 business in current and adjacent markets. This is a highly visible position that will interact at all levels of the AWS and Amazon.com business.
Key Strategic Objectives:
Provide highly elastic, completely user controlled compute capacity in the cloud that is reliable, secure and inexpensive. Our customer base is broadly based and heterogeneous in their needs, and as an Internet-facing service we expect Amazon EC2 to expand to a massive scale seldom seen in systems
Drive broad adoption and provide unparalleled customer experience
Develop a strategic and tactical plan that drives additional awareness, trial, adoption, and repeat usage of Amazon EC2
Evaluate and be comfortable with feature development, pricing changes, various marketing channels (i.e. Public Relations, Developer Evangelism, Promotions, etc.), customer surveys and profiling, partner management, sample application, code samples, and technical documentation, development, etc.
Lead the organization through change, evolution, and sustained growth
Evolve and scale the organization along with the business
Lead by example, being just as passionate about operational performance and predictability as they are about all other aspects of the customer experience
Desired Skills & Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Minimum of 7 years of product management experience preferably with internet business experience
Minimum of 5 years experience building and leading product teams, scaling them to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business
Minimum of 7 years experience translating customer needs into features, pricing models, and merchandising opportunities to deliver an unparalleled customer experience
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science or an engineering field
MBA
Hybrid leader- part builder, part operator and part general manager
Experience delivering high quality technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly
Prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly
Drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team
Ability to design, deliver, and operate a technical service that is robust in the face of failure around it
Passionate about Amazon EC2 value proposition and cloud computing in general
Innovative mentality partnered with a strong customer/quality focus: with the business growing rapidly, this leader will not have the luxury of having tunnel-vision for any one area; rather, this individual will need to exhibit excellent judgment on how to prioritize between focusing on existing versus new customers and between features, architectural improvements and operational excellence
From a business and technical perspective, this leader will:
