With eyes focused squarely on the future, our team works closely with creative and prolific engineers to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting and tailoring our solutions to all the markets where Google does business.
The role: Director of Product Management, Media Verticals, YouTube
With a global audience of 500 million viewers and distribution across PC, mobile, tablets and living room devices, YouTube is positioned to continue innovating on how content is created and distributed. Leading our Media Verticals effort, you’ll have worldwide product responsibility for creating vertical experiences around Music, TV, Movies and Sports (with additional areas to follow). Beyond our ad supported business of today, you’ll be focused on adjacent business models ripe for innovation. In addition, you’ll be a senior member of the cross-functional leadership team driving the business, content acquisition and marketing strategies.
You’ll be managing a team of product managers but also getting your hands dirty working with engineers and designers to build new features, including commerce related business models. The perfect candidate will be excited about rapid iteration, testing and change. You’ll be comfortable analyzing large sets of data. You’ll bring a sharp sense of user experience principles and be able to clearly articulate the goals of a design. And you’ll be looking to ensure YouTube continues to remain nimble in our ability to get stuff done. When you succeed, YouTube will have helped traditional media expand their audiences and new voices to build audience across the world.
Responsibilities:
• Own the product roadmap to support our Media Verticals strategy.
• Lead, recruit and grow a talented product team.
• Initiate and prioritize projects within engineering, assist in determining the best technical implementation methods, track product development, and develop product launch plans.
• Develop the product strategy, positioning and all elements related to the business case.
• Represent YouTube internally and externally to press, partners and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
• BA/BS or equivalent. Advanced technical or business degree preferred.
• At least 10 years Product Management or product design experience, including managing a team.
• Experience developing internet or media products and technologies.
• Entrepreneurial experience and familiarity with business issues, or a willingness to learn.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and quantitative analytical skills.
