Director, Making Homes Affordable Regulatory and Legislative Oversight at Fannie Mae


Job Description

The individual in this position will work on Fannie Mae's implementation of certain programs under the U.S. Department of the Treasury's ("Treasury") Making Home Affordable initiative. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status is required by Treasury for such individual, as is execution of a nondisclosure agreement and compliance with other Fannie Mae requirements per Treasury's guidelines.

JOB INFORMATION

Coordinate strategy execution and direct day-to-day operations for one or more project teams. In conjunction with senior management, develop project plans and execute project deliverables. Articulate goals, allocate resources, and manage workflow.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
• Oversee and manage development and execution of strategies to advise members of Congress, Congressional candidates, and/or government agency officials about the firm issues.
• Monitor proposed and ongoing legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues of interest to and affecting the firm, bills, speeches, and statements of government leaders, legislators, and/or Congressional candidates.
• Provide expert advice to senior management in responding to significant trends and findings and other issues that might impact the firm.
• Lead review of documents and deliverables.
• Report to senior management on the unit's production, activities, and efforts.
• Represent the unit as an expert or resource to cross-functional project or coordinating teams.
• Plan, document, and manage the performance of subordinate managers and/or staff. Provide for professional or technical growth through assignment, mentoring, or training.
• Plan and manage the unit's budget. Approve expenditures or budget transfers.
• Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects. Serve as liaison between project management and planning, the project team, and business unit management.
• Plan projects. Review project status. Manage schedules and prepare status reports.
Skills

EDUCATION
• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
• 8 years of related experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• 3-5 years of previous government/congressional relations experience
• Prior experience coordinating responses to governmental and oversight inquiries
• Experience managing cross-divisional working groups on government-related programs.
• Experience engaging with external and internal stakeholders at various levels to ensure program implementations, and executions
• Familiarity with the U.S. housing and mortgage industry is strongly preferred
