DIRECTOR - CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS at VeriSign


Job Description

NOTE: NO Relocation Available

The Director, Corporate Communications, oversees VeriSign's worldwide Corporate Communications programs; working with Senior Management, Sales functions, and outside PR agencies to develop strategies and positioning in the company marketplace.

Key Objectives:
• Develop effective messaging strategy for the corporation across all geographies, incorporating best practice marketing communications ideas and programs
• Develop and implement innovative strategic plans, programs and materials across media venues to help VeriSign shape the perceptions of customers, prospects, press and analysts within business, Internet, and public policy communities domestically and internationally
• Create key company story lines and positioning messages that will resonate with the press and analyst community, and be woven into all AR/PR/Marcom materials
• Provide guidance to executives with regard to story lines and key strategies with top-tier press and analysts
• Advise corporate executives and business unit team members on best way to communicate major corporate news (M&A, product launches, geographic expansions, etc.) Work closely with Investor Relations and Internal Communications team leads
• Develop best practice for interfacing and communicating with marketing groups and PR agencies worldwide to achieve consistent and compelling global message delivery
• Drive an increase in positive coverage with relevant business, industry and channel press and analysts
• Drive improvements and implementation for consistently winning key awards, product reviews and business/industry accolades
Skills

Qualifications:
• 10-15 years of experience in a senior-level corporate communications role
• Experience working in a highly matrixed environment, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor staff, including those that may have a dotted reporting relationship into the business unit and the corporate function
• Successful track record of managing large dollar budgets with measurable results
• Demonstrated ability to create unique and compelling corporate positioning
• Experience in and interpersonal skills for dealing effectively with corporate executives, Investor Relations and business group leaders
• Ability to work collaboratively against agreed upon priorities, yet make hard choices/decisions when necessary
• Solid understanding of broad industry issues and competitive positioning of key players
