Senior Director Government & Public Affairs China LEGO Group Shanghai

You will be based in Shanghai and your role is to advance the LEGO Group’s citizenship agenda through implementation of a government and public affairs strategy that enables the business and directly enhances our stakeholder engagement, reputational profile and impact.

We build goodwill and political capital with regulators, politicians, interest groups, NGOs and the local communities and establish the LEGO Group as a leader in the toy industry where we operate.

You will be part of our global Government and Public Affairs leadership team and lead a team of 4 experienced GPA professionals. Your job is to develop and execute an ambitious government and public affairs program that delivers issues management, policy analysis, advocacy platform activation and expanded stakeholder engagement. Our agenda includes product safety, marketing to children, Learning Through Play, STEM, Environmental and Social Responsibility and Digital Citizenship. Program will be aligned with our business entities and global communications, PR and reputation management strategies. Thus, you enable us to shape actions, policy and direction in line with our values and strategic priorities.
What are we expecting you to do?
• Develop GPA strategy for the LEGO Group in China that is leveraging the total value proposition of all LEGO Branded entities in collaboration with the LEGO China leadership as well as the GPA LT.
• Lead LEGO Education government engagement in China.
• Be the representative of the LEGO Group towards GPA stakeholders
• Engage with LEGO China leaders to deeply understand how GPA can enable the business plan
• Stakeholder Management incl. advocacy and engagement activities
• Provide policy assessments and strategic guidance to the LEGO Group senior leadership

• Lead the GPA China team
• Overall responsible for GPA in China
• Develop a GPA Activity Plan for the LEGO Group in China that enables 2018 – 2020 Business Plan in China
• Engage with LEGO China leaders to deeply understand how GPA can enable the business plan
• Regulatory Risk and Issue Management
• Map, assess, manage and communicate legislative risks and opportunities and ensure effective transition of external demands to internal stakeholders.
• Take active role in toy and trade associations, which includes strategy setting and influencing direction on key industry issues.
• Lead the GPA part of the LEGO Group IPR protection activities.
• Policy analysis to inform the LEGO Group senior management of the development in China
Do you have what it takes?
• University degree at Masters-level in relevant area (engineering, political science, law)
• Experience from consumer products industry, public affairs consultancy, business consultancy, authorities or similar (10+ years)
• Strong and proven people leadership skills
• Proven ability to analyze and transfer complex external knowledge to actionable internal use
• Proven ability to work independently and proven ability to set strategic objectives in the GPA area
• Advanced Mandarin and English skills
• Expected travel: 40 - 60 days/year
