Amazon Digital Products is looking for an interdisciplinary UX leader to envision and evolve Alexa's developer experiences and tools. Are you interested in joining the team to help lead this innovation?
You are adept at working within fast paced technology teams, collaborating with product managers, engineers, marketing, and leadership at every step of the product lifecycle. You are a quick read that can understand complex problems, design solutions, and lead a team of designers to execute them. You have the sensibility of a graphic designer, the logic of an engineer, the ability to converse fluently with creative and technical teams, and an endless passion for learning and developing new experiences. This role is based in San Francisco, CA.
Creative Directors have a deep understanding of interaction, web and product design, with an exceptional eye for detail. You must be responsive, flexible and able to lead and drive results through your team within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Create the vision for products that are grounded in data, research, and subject matter expertise
Document, present and facilitate strategic design discussions with stakeholders and executives
Lead large scale complex design programs. Inspire your team of designers to create the interaction flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, visual comps, and motion studies required to produce elegant, simple customer experiences
Conduct analyses of real usage data to inform UX optimization efforts
Put structure to ambiguous problems and define deliverables towards a feasible solution
Design and develop experiences that can be mapped directly to Amazon’s business and customer needs
Present concepts, help facilitate ideation sessions, and workshops with internal teams
Partner with the technology team to ensure we leverage the scale offered by our platform without compromising on core experiential principles
Work strategically with other teams in order to have cross-organizational impact
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a user experience designer or interaction designer.
5+ years of experience directly managing a design team
Bachelor’s degree in a design related field
Understanding of best practices for digital/web-based information architecture and design
Knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
Experience with Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Keynote
Experience working directly with developers to implement designs
Experience developing plans and contributing to technology programs
Work samples showcasing strategic thinking, design program planning, process, documentation, and detailed design presentations
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a design related field
Experience with voice-driven product design and consumer electronics
Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
A unique perspective on designing for developers
Experience in prototyping
Experience developing and managing research programs both internally and with vendors
Proficiency in web technologies like HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Proficiency with accessibility standards
Experience interviewing, hiring, and operationalizing a design team
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to deal with ambiguity, work autonomously, and prioritize effectively
