The Director of Logistics and Distribution is responsible for all company efforts coordinating the flow of goods including storage, ordering, transportation and delivery of goods … The right products in the right place at the right pace. The goal is to manage the entire order cycle so as to enhance business development and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction.
The Director will lead consolidation and standardization of a centralized logistics and distribution function to support product and store growth. Responsibilities will include dry, ambient, refrigerate and frozen distribution channels. This will include working with the internal stakeholders from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery to meet stakeholder needs. The process starts with idea concept, demand management that then drives supply analysis/strategy, 3rd party supplier identification, execution, contract negotiation, delivery planning and monitoring, order management and then ongoing performance management and improvement of supplier and process.


The Director will establish strong relationships with cross functional groups and individuals to ensure that Logistics and Distribution gets aligned with their particular objectives, and to enlist their support in participating in supply base improvement efforts. The Director will be responsible for helping to develop the overall strategy, identifying and evolving best practices and transforming the organization to be more efficient and effective. The Director will apply knowledge and expertise to assist in strategy development, tender execution, contract negotiation and supplier performance evaluation.



Primary Responsibilities

Ongoing value creation with a world class logistics and distribution function
Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer service
Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
Liaise and negotiate with distribution 3rd party suppliers
Develop and manage a supplier scorecard identifying benchmarks and tracking for continuous performance improvement around quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs
Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
Resolve any arising problems, stock outs, shortages or complaints
Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements
Creation and management of short, mid, and long-term goals and objectives
Creation and improvement of best-practice based processes
Management of business process outsourcing activities
Identification and realization of cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
Leadership of cross-functional teaming across other business functions and initiatives
Budget management
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Qualifications / Skills

Strong leadership skills
Team player at all levels to collaborate cross functionally with External and internal stakeholders and functional partners like IT, finance, HR, legal, Marketing, Operations, etc.
Solid operational management and general business skills and savvy
Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, etc.
Industry knowledge in terms of broad industry dynamics, but also the internal knowledge and “language of the business”
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and even better listening skills that allows the “voice of the internal customer” and to understand the company culture and how to best communicate logistics and distribution’s value to it
In-depth knowledge of 3rd party supplier networks and best practices
Strong negotiation skills
Experience with procurement systems and technology
Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk
Strategic mindset and problem-solving skills
Change management skills and self-awareness to take varying approaches with a dynamic set of stakeholders
Knowledge of enterprise risk management and business continuity planning
Analytical mindset, but also creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches that have historically “boxed-in” logistics and distribution
Proven ability to prioritize and multitask
Experience

10 years senior supply management, logistics, distribution, warehousing or related experience
Experience managing 3rd party warehousing and distribution
Restaurant or retail Experience
Proven track record of delivering large savings
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, engineering or related area, Master’s degree preferred
