Director Events Originals Publicity Netflix Los Angeles

Job Description: • 2-minute read •
With a growing slate of new projects coming to Netflix, we are looking to fill a role on our publicity team for an events director. We are looking for a grown up, someone who enjoys strategizing and implementing events, and understands that as this group falls under the publicity umbrella and that we see events as a beat in our larger media-driven campaigns. This is a very hands-on role, one that will expect you to both be able to oversee, inspire others with guidance and vision, while also “doing” the work. You should know the playbook backwards and forwards, then we will challenge you to throw that playbook out the window, and push you to innovate with us.
The Opportunity
Fueled by the broad appeal of being able to instantly enjoy unlimited movies and TV shows, Netflix has grown to have over 118 million streaming members in over 190 countries.

The Role
The Director, Events will play a key role in strategizing, executing and managing events with the series, documentary and film teams. They will manage a growing team of professionals and be able to drive press/media strategy as it relates to events. The ideal candidate has worked handling premiere (large and small) and awards events for film, TV or entertainment brands, and they have managed growing teams. He/she will be able to communicate with filmmakers, talent representatives, agencies, executives and production partners on efforts. They can formulate, oversee and manage a budget, and give visibility into their process successfully. Pack your bag because domestic and international travel is a requirement. The ideal candidate is able to make wise decisions, even when faced with ambiguity and thinks
strategically. He/she is not defined by past experiences and eager to put a new spin on what an event can be. (This is real important to us and it should be very important to you!) They can articulate what they are - and are not - trying to do. He or she is a good listener and a real doer, and is able to multi-task and work at a clip pace. Most importantly, they can guide a team to do all of the same and work as autonomous adults. They are organized, thorough and not afraid to get their hands dirty - and that will mean jumping in to handle tasks that range from hiring an agency to plan an event, to maintaining and updating guest lists, to booking a venue themselves for an event or to working a check-in table. They collaborate well with partners that range from the publicists overseeing global strategy to content/programming to marketing to social to product and beyond. Strong candidates can handle a vast amount of work and even though
they lead the team, they are eager to learn. They are curious and also contribute effectively outside of their speciality. A good fit in the role has a candid and direct communication style, they are willing to admit to mistakes quickly and questions values inconsistent with our values. They understand that sometimes the job requires delivering bad news, and they’re tactful in handling such issues.

Qualifications
The successful candidate for Director, Events will have 10+ years of entertainment experience in an agency, studio, network or production company setting. International experience is a bonus. BA/BS required.
