ABB is looking for A- Technical Leadership
-Provides technical direction of high value customer Solution Engineering function focused on MMS in coordination across LPG for product lines SCADA, EMS, GMS, and ADMS working closely with Global Product Managers, Global Product Development Managers, and Local Operations, Engineering and Sales Managers.
-Creates new business prospects for LPG by identifying opportunities and developing novel solutions, working with BU Technology Manager, Group Corporate Research, and other PG Product Managers.
Ensures, together with HRBP and LPG Engineering Managers’ support, organizational technical readiness:
-Identifies gaps in key talent needed to support business plans.
-Develops plans to address talent deficiencies and knowledge retention. Monitors implementation of plans and accuracy of hiring decisions.
-Creates and monitors a learning culture that improves organizational technical capabilities and domain knowledge
-Encourages and coordinates industry forum participation and publishing.
Responsible for resource planning within the engineering function to meet the needs of operations, sales, and support within the MMS product line.
Guides, motivates, coaches, and develops direct subordinates as well as LPG Engineering Managers and other senior technical staff.
3. Customer and Sales
-Manages customer relationships at senior level, develops long-term relationship with key customers.
-Works with the customer to shape and deliver solutions – seeks feedback and innovates with the customer to drive and deliver improvement.
-Works with business development to target new opportunities.
4. Contract management
Identifies and helps manage contractual risks resulting from proposed solution.
5. Planning and control
Helps create, together with other LPG Management Team members, long term plans which define the business strategy resource requirements (e.g. numbers and competence of employees) to achieve business growth.
Ensures MMS Product Roadmap and Product Development prioritization decisions account for business and solution needs of LPG Business Development activities in coordination with SCADA, EMS, GMS, and ADMS.
6. Finance and budget
Contributes to the management review of the product group’s financial performance, along with the other management team members. Assists with plans to achieve the business financial targets.
Contributes to the definition of annual budgets for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance and utilization against agreed financial targets and constraints.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
-Master's degree in Engineering
-10 years of experience with Asset Management
-8 years of experience working in a Management capacity
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with graduate level specialization in at least one of the core technologies relevant to centralized computer control and operation of electric transmission/distribution.
Minimum of 15 years technical experience with at least 10-years’ of mission critical solution deliveries within the SCADA/EMS/DMS/MMS field for solutions of different sizes, up to at least 10 MUSD. Technical Project Manager or Solution Responsible for at least one 5 MUSD+ customer project from the requirements definition phase to production deployment.
Minimum 5 years of Software Development Management experience with sound understanding of the full software development lifecycle including cost estimation practices; ability to select, coach, and evaluate senior technical staff at the levels of principal engineer/consultant and senior principal engineer/consultant. Preference for such experience to be from outside ABB in order to bring in new perspectives.
Minimum 5 years of supporting global business development activities as Solution Responsible: helping develop sales strategy and tactics – knowing interdependencies, anticipating consequences, understanding interactions; leading the technical proposal effort; making pre and post-bid customer presentations; and with at least one successful $10M+ project win.
Ability to interact collaboratively with technical and managerial professionals at all levels and functions; comfort with intellectual disagreement.
Ability to think strategically and analytically and connect a variety of internal and external inputs into an actionable direction and recommendation.
Ability to construct, tailor, and deliver messages to internal and external executives, through one or more media to build logical and persuasive arguments.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project.
