Senior Director Portfolio Decision Analysis Pfizer New York City

This role is dynamic, fast-paced, highly collaborative, and covers a broad range of R&D and strategy topics that are critical to our business and inform investment decisions. In addition, we are constantly driving thought leadership with our business partners, and continuously seeking new and creative ways to communicate highly complex and dynamic information.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure team can lead development of investment alternatives by implementing fit-for-purpose decision analysis methodologies to evaluate alternatives, incorporating relevant cost, risk, and return inputs. Clearly communicate insights and recommended course of action to teams, team leaders, and management. Drive dialogue across functions, teams, and R&D / Commercial organizations. Enable governance, with an eye to transparency, consideration of alternatives, and value-based decision-making.
For the Pfizer Innovative Health (PIH) organization, guide portfolio management decisions – including therapeutic area and technology investments for the development pipeline of the Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) and Internal Medicine (IM) Categories
For the Pfizer Essential Health (PEH) organization, service the Biosimilars, Sterile Injectables, and Anti Infectives units to guide asset and portfolio management decisions such as IP strategy, optimal manufacturing decisions, and device strategies. Serve as an advisor, sitting on appropriate Portfolio Strategy Teams (PSTs) to be an effective counsel for strategic decision making
Serve as a single-point of contact for the valuation of the I&I, IM, and PEH clinical portfolios
Frame individual asset / project opportunities in the context of the Category portfolio and the broader Pfizer portfolio.
Fluently answer portfolio-related questions from the most senior levels of Pfizer management in a succinct manner.
Contribute to the design, implementation, and management of analytical processes and methodologies to facilitate and guide decisions related to strategy formulation, resource allocation, risk management, and portfolio optimization.
Communicate with senior leaders about individual Category portfolios, as well as about implications of alternative funding decisions, key stage gates, and program risks / benefits
Lead team members managing asset / project teams:
Advise on strategic alternatives that can add value to the asset / project and to the Category
Suggest analytical tools and frameworks to help project / asset teams analyze a variety of decisions
Ensure team members are prepared to articulate insights and drive decision-making by bringing the project / asset teams to clarity in their recommendations
Lead valuation process for I&I and IM prioritization efforts and be a thought partner on overall Pfizer prioritization process
Ensure that asset teams provide critical portfolio valuation updates as they occur; identify material portfolio changes and provide necessary updates (incl. implications) to relevant teams.
Proactively develop new thought pieces and/or initiatives that can add value to clients and be levered across other assets teams and/or across PDA; consistently demonstrate business ownership mentality
Lead and develop a team of highly motivated and skilled professionals

Professional experience and educational requirements

Advanced degree in business, decision analysis, or medicine / science
At least 10+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, finance, strategic planning, or decision analysis
Previous people leadership experience required
