The primary focus of this role is coaching, leading and developing a successful team of project management resources including Business Analysts, Process Analysts, Project Managers, etc. for a business area. The incumbent is responsible for delivering results through facilitation of project resources that report directly and indirectly to the position. The incumbent partners cross-functionally (IT and business units) to understand business problems, needs and/or opportunities with a focus on guiding the development of business cases or project proposals for optimal solutions. The incumbent is responsible for partnering with internal business partners to identify and build business and learning measurements into all implementations. The incumbent will manage project process and workflow to deliver quality products on time, within budget and within scope. This position is also responsible for contributing to continual improvement of project management and business analysis methodologies at the company.
Director - Business Consultant: This position has accountability for driving business change through Product initiatives in support of speed-to-market (timeline), quality and budget goals


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive the design and market launch for new product and service offerings
Drive development and oversight of plans for adoption of new product and service offerings internally (e.g. sales, administration, marketing, contact center, underwriting) and externally (e.g. brokers)

Effectively partner with IT teams to translate business design into technology solutions
Proactively manage and resolve strategic and tactical risks and issues
Support business decisions / tradeoff evaluations in a timely manner
Principal Duties Responsibilities
Lead project management efforts for the business area for significant cross-site strategic initiatives.
Assign priorities, allocate resources, and negotiate scope within context of returns on investment and availability of resources.
Partner with senior business area managers and where applicable outside partners/vendors to define scope, objectives and implementation plans that meet business requirements.
Function as the project management expert for business area.
Partners with business and IT to deliver projects on time, within budget, and within scope.
Manage project teams of internal (e.g. project managers, business analysts, subject matter experts, support staff, etc.) and external resources as needed
Utilize standard processes and methodologies with appropriate flexibility/judgment for each project
Understand strategy, plans, and needs of internal business partners to provide effective, value-added implementation support
Support the company by evidencing a strong understanding of the strategic direction, goals and objectives in order to help identify and define the business opportunities that best align with that vision
Partner with key Business leaders, IT management and other senior leaders to identify specific business opportunities or to address business needs or problems and help build or guide proposals for effective solutions
Partner with business and IT leaders to enhance the business proposal/business case process to ensure effective presentation of opportunities/needs and clarity in scope, costs and benefits
Job Specifications
Education/Training/Experience/Certification

BS or BA degree in related field required or significant, relevant work experience
Proven experience managing projects - 7+ years
Minimum 4-5 years business/systems or related analysis experience and working knowledge of/experience with business analysis tools, processes and methodologies
Formal Business Analysis and Project Management training or certification preferred
Knowledge of operational business/systems/products/operations and/or services preferred
Experience in evaluating and recommending appropriate, cost effective solutions to business problems
Ability to define key business strategies and plans to support initiatives that translate into actionable project deliverables.
Proficient in the initiation, analysis, design, management and implementation of complex projects involving multi-discipline initiatives across the enterprise
Technical

Extensive knowledge/understanding of the corporate methodology and a broad understanding/awareness of other methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of logical data model/management.
Exceptional ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment.
Extensive working knowledge of MS Office, MS Visio, and other work/presentation/project management tools
Leadership/Partnering/Communication Skills

People management experience required
Strong previous experience developing employees in the areas of leadership skills, organizational skills, and managing/setting priorities in a fast paced changing environment
Proven experience coaching, developing, motivating and leading project management resources
Proven experience partnering with project leaders, IT managers, IT leads and various business representatives to optimally align project resources to accomplish priorities and achieve desired results
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence various business partners and senior leaders in order drive adoption of change
Excellent consulting and advisory skills; ability to deal with/think through ambiguity, complex issues, competing priorities and make thoughtful recommendations
Superior analytical skills and ability to apply those skills to provide creative, resourceful recommendations to complex business needs
Strong ability to interact with IT partners and converse intelligently and articulately on technical directions or solutions to business needs
Extremely proficient at handling multiple priorities, conflict resolution, delegating, team building
Exceptional ability to negotiate effectively with business and IT partners on business requirements and timeframes on large initiatives.
Exceptional ability to rally support among peers and work effectively within challenging situations.
