We are currently looking for a Deputy Projects Director to join the Thales TTSI team in New York, NY.
Main Job Function:Provide Deputy Project Management of Thales’ Design, Development, Installation, Commissioning and Subcontract Management of large CBTC and Signaling projects on an operating transit railroad in NYC. Role is expected to evolve to provide overall PM role once there is an available CBTC project.
Provide deputy PM role to an existing NYC CBTC project.Responsibilities include deputy roles to the PM who has the following responsibilities:
·Conduct day-to-day interface and contact with the customer as required.
·Manage local project staff, including TTSI subcontractors and (when required), subcontracts with other Thales units.
·Establish project management and subcontractor management plans:
oDevelop and update Program Master Plan as required, WBS, program schedule and work packages as required.
oIntegrate subcontractor sub-schedules into master program schedule as required.
oPrepare conformed program cost estimate, issue work packages and submit budgets for approval.
·Monitor, control, report and present status of all elements of program and budgets to senior and corporate management as required.
·Identify and proactively mitigate program risks on an ongoing basis.
·Assure on-time delivery of contract services and deliverables.
·Lead and negotiate project contract change orders when requested.
·As required, collect, monitor and support project claim material and negotiations.
·Manage customer relationships and activities per project organization; internal to Thales and/or external subcontractors.
·Prepare and maintain program sales and financial forecasts.
·Assure timely invoicing and collection.
Job Requirements and Essential Skills:
·Minimum 5+ years of experience working with operating transit railroads and familiarity with operating restrictions, logistical challenges, and safe work environment.
·Minimum 3+ years of leading large technology project implementations including leadership of direct staff.
·Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
·Strong process orientation and discipline to ensure compliance with both Corporate and Customer procedures.
·Critical thinking, able to identify and implement better efficiencies and process improvements.
·Strong organizational, staff management, planning, and teambuilding skills.
·Effective communication skills to interact professionally with all levels inside and outside the organization.
·Flexibility to take on additional projects and adapt to changes in priorities.
·Advanced MS Office skills.
·Occasional domestic and international travel (approximately 10%).
Education and Experience:
·BS in Engineering field required; Master’s Degree or Professional Engineer license is desirable.
·Must meet the contract minimum requirements for project manager with respect to prior experience.
·Must have experience managing Installation/Infrastructure subcontractors.
·Experience in a multi-unit project delivery environment a strong asset.
·5+ years of experience in delivering CBTC systems.
·Experience in deploying fixed block signaling systems a strong asset.
