The Director, Marketing will support the Vice President, Marketing-South Asia in increasing market share and generating revenue by implementing marketing strategy and overseeing the implementation of all marketing initiatives to support the India division’s objectives – namely to reconnect with Indian consumers and refresh MasterCard’s brand among Indian consumers as safe, easy and rewarding all built atop leading global payments technology. We are not only seeking brand preference but substantiated brand preference whereby engaged consumers promote the brand virally through social media and other channels.
Role
This role will report into the Vice President – Marketing & Communications , South Asia and will be based in Mumbai. The skip level managers will be dual – Division President , South Asia & the Senior Vice President , Marketing & Communications, Asia Pacific . The successful candidate will possess significant insight into how to affect consumer behavior for commercial success and have the intellectual curiosity to find and leverage areas for profitable growth. Responsibilities for this role include
Grow MasterCard India revenue and market share.
o Work with the Vice President, Marketing & Comms to drive a strategy that combines the brand essence of Mastercard and local insights to deliver a locally relevant campaign to change consumer behavior, both in the mass and the affluent space.
o o Build new businesses by gaining Consumer adoption of eComm, Mobile and Social Media.
o Understand the business to market needs and implement innovative marketing strategies to meet corporate goals and issuer, consumer and merchant requirements.
o Develop brand-level and product marketing programs including advertising, sponsorship, promotions, interactive and PR to drive business and brand results for consumer and corporate end-user segments. Focusing on driving inbound , cross border and eCommerce transaction velocity
o Work with the account team to build confidence in Mastercard’s marketing capabilities , work with key issuers and merchants on co marketing programs
o Drive marketing innovation through digital marketing. Enable the brand to respected as the expert in digital marketing in the payment category. Experiment and build competitive advantage on mobile , content and analytics based marketing
o Execute all product and brand marketing to drive competitive advantage for Mastercard
Lead consumer insight generation to enable all functions to start with consumer insight when making decision or development
o Assist the Vice President in efficiently and effectively managing A&M spend through segment investments, tight agency management, and a greater return on India Division and MasterCard global sponsorship investments.
o Work with key regional leads on leveraging global learnings especially on B2B and translating that for success in local market .
o Leverage sponsorship assets that Mastercard has globally and work with local agencies and VP Marketing to develop further assets which are unique to India • Ensure that these assets are adequately monetized with issuers, merchants and consumers to drive value for Mastercard
o Work with regional & global insights & research teams to enhance brand understanding for India
All About You
• MBA from Tier 1 / Tier 2 institute with 10-12 years of post MBA experience
• Experience in driving revenue growth through marketing
• Digital marketing leadership capability and experience
• Extensive business experience preferably obtained through various cross industry assignments
• Proven experience in both B2B / channel marketing as well as consumer marketing
• Proven track record in delivering ROI based campaigns with the ability to target and refine as possible
• Possesses cross-functional skills, to include sales, marketing, and finance
• Proven change agent capabilities
• Exceptional influencing and partnering skills
• Ability to build confidence quickly in client and internal sales team
• Ability to communicate succinctly and confidently to senior management as the need arises
• Ability to take existing business plan & strategy and develop future short/medium/long term growth opportunities with analysis and recommendation
