Assistant Director External Affairs International Air Transport Association (IATA) Genève

Reporting to Director, External Affairs, the incumbent will promote and protect the IATA Distribution and Payment Transformation Agenda with government regulators and industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Identifies challenges and opportunities to promote and protect the IATA Distribution and Payment Transformation Agenda

Develop strategy to advance that agenda in the face of these challenges and opportunities

Develop and coordinate input from key internal (FDS, LEGAL, ECON) to advance the IATA distribution/payment agenda

Manage external stakeholder relationships to advance the IATA distribution/payment agenda, including but not limited to, airlines, travel agencies, payment companies, technology companies and GDSs
Work with FDS Transformation and IATA Corporate Communications to develop an effective communications plan to advance IATA’s distribution/communication agenda

Work with IATA governance (PSC, PACONF, Financial Committee, Legal Committee and Industry Affairs Committee) to develop and support industry distribution/payment solutions

Qualifications and Skills
University degree and a minimum of 15 years of professional experience in a relevant area

Understanding of the economic and competitive landscapes relevant to, and challenges, threats and opportunities faced by IATA and its members in the area of airline distribution and payment

Understanding of (and preferably experience with) airline distribution and payment practices and related IATA programs (NDC, One Order, NewGen ISS and Transparency in Payment)

Experience in advocating before government regulators and key industry stakeholders

Experience in stakeholder management among a diverse set of stakeholders (internal and external)

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong analytical and conceptual skills

Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, under pressure and with deadlines

Self-starter with a proven ability to produce results with minimal supervision

Cultural awareness and sensitivity
