The Director, Automotive OEM Business Development will be responsible for leading all sales efforts and customer support for current and potential automaker partners, a critical segment of EVgo’s business. The successful candidate will be responsible to develop and implement a strategic sales plan by identifying market opportunities, building the EVgo brand, and delivering results through revenue growth. She/he will maintain clear communication of customer requirements including but not limited to sales opportunities, business development, identification of leadership engagement plan, identification/development/publication of customer centric metrics, leading efforts to obtain source substantiated new product introductions and obtaining and communication forecasted sales volume information.
Direct OEM customer contact for contract negotiations and account management
Identification of growth opportunities that will deliver value to the Customer and the organization
Develop, maintain, and implement plans that support the EVgo strategic growth plan
Understand current and future market trends and OEM purchasing strategies
Identify and secure new business opportunities in line with the wider product strategy
Lead and manage all OEM related RFI, RFP, and/or RFQ submissions
Lean and collaborate with other EVgo leaders on quote review approvals, proposal preparation/submissions for new contact development
Manage a high volume of RFQ activities across varying levels of complexity and execute to customer deadlines
Work with customers to develop KPIs and structured metric review processes for performance evaluation
Establish, prospect, maintain, and improve multi-level/multi-functional relationships in a highly complex matrix Customer organization and key strategic partners
Identify and facilitate a leadership engagement plan to include corporate engagement as required
Establish a strong relationship with the Sourcing Team Leader as well as the Lead Sourcing Specialist and Buyers to maintain current orders awarded and acquire incremental sales
Assure there is a consistent message delivered to customer personnel by cross functional touch points within the EVgo organization
Stay engaged and knowledgeable for current performance and developments
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required, advance degree preferred
Minimum 10 years of experience in a Business Development/Sales Growth Leadership role preferred. Significant Automotive OEM experience can substitute
Must have customer-facing experience that has delivered results
Demonstrated leadership experience with Customers and internal organizations, core values centered on a participative communication style that enables effective communication with all levels of the organization
Strong business acumen with the ability to collaborate and contribute to the success of the total business model
Possess excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and leadership skills
Exceptional team player who can excel at working in a collegial environment was well as being a self-motivated individual contributor
Results-oriented with demonstrated ability to negotiate and sell successfully
Ability to develop and hold high level relationships and negotiations with customers
Experience and understanding of the EV Automotive industry and market trends preferred
Must possess strong planning, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, problem solving, and financial skills
Willingness to travel and put in long hours to engage face-to-face with customers
