This Director of Applied Science role will lead a growing team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to deliver cutting edge advanced technology features and services, working closely with Adobe Research, Sensei framework engineering teams, product teams across Adobe’s three cloud businesses, as well as custom use cases for enterprise customers. You and your team will straddle the line between research and product development, applying the latest ML technologies, and working closely with product teams to bring ML-based features and services to Adobe’s products and customers. You will drive the complete ML lifecycle for all projects owned by your team, and will drive best practices. You will manage a complex set of projects for multiple products with many stakeholders, from product managers, to engineers to marketers. You will also serve as a key influencer for the Adobe Sensei ML framework, working closely with the framework engineering team to drive requirements and act as customer zero of the framework.
This leader will have strong data science skills, technical skills and business capability to define and build features, services and solutions based on AI and ML in Adobe applications. You will be hands-on, building a team from scratch and working with stakeholder teams throughout Adobe to create integrated intelligent experiences. You will own data science and ML engineering for key product initiatives, and will be a seen as a thought leader on AI/ML and its applications throughout Adobe. You must be highly customer-focused, with a keen eye for end user needs and experience, while contributing to the business objectives. This leader will manage a complex set of stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization.
This leader will:
Take ownership of ML lifecycles for multiple Adobe products, ensuring best practices in data preparation, feature development, selection of ML techniques and stacks, model training, model validation & evaluation, and iteration.
Work with the broader Sensei engineering and product management team to help evolve the Sensei framework to enable democratization of ML across Adobe engineering teams.
Be a thought leader for AI and ML, and evangelize to product teams with careful attention to feasibility and customer need.
Work with product management across Adobe cloud business units to understand the requirements of various product teams and their customers, and prioritize them in the Adobe Sensei roadmap. You will develop and execute aggressive, yet achievable engineering roadmaps to deliver Sensei features to meet the needs of the range of Adobe customers, from creative professionals, to knowledge workers, to marketers.
Ensure that Adobe datasets adhere to all applicable compliance, privacy, legal and security requirements.
Work closely with Adobe Research teams to identify technologies ready to productize, and drive tech transfer

This leader has extensive experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning, preferably in product development contexts, has experience delivering cutting-edge products, and has excellent stakeholder management skills.

10+ years of technical leadership experience with deep expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning
Proven engineering management leadership with highly diverse and global teams
Team leadership experience building technical teams from the ground up that can scale

Track record of delivering cloud-scale, data-driven products and services that are widely adopted with large customer bases
