We are a fast-growing, fast-paced business that designs and manufactures instruments, reagents, and consumables used in protein research and bio-pharma drug discovery and quality control. We are looking for an experienced, results oriented individual to manage the reagents and hardware consumables production team. The candidate will be responsible to deliver significant top-line revenue growth while simultaneously transitioning the organization from a start-up environment to a world class operation.
· Plan and execute, in conjunction with corporate quality management, an ISO 9001 quality management system for reagent and hardware consumables production.
· In partnership with Finance, establish accurate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) measurements and set targets for cost reductions; Implement LEAN initiatives for ongoing reductions in materials and labor costs.
· Partner with R&D to develop new products that meet performance, cost, and quality targets
· Ensure environmental, health, and safety procedures are followed.
· Hire and develop manufacturing team members as the business grows
Uncover and capitalize on opportunities to upgrade manual processes to either semi- or fully-automated processes
Work experience requirements
Ability to execute using critical thinking in a fast paced environment.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams with experience in a rapidly growing business.
Strong understanding of Quality Assurance and demonstrated action-oriented, results-driven approach to quality. Commitment to improve manufacturing and quality metrics.
Solid knowledge of ISO requirements, with implementation experience a strong plus; working knowledge of GMP and FDA requirements a plus.
Great team builder who can mentor and develop ambitious team members and who can recruit and challenge world-class talent.
Good financial skills in budgeting, expense control, and forecasting.
Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing, with experience implementing 5S and pull production methods.
Proven track record of successfully introducing new technologies into manufacturing
Prior experience in an engineering role is a plus
Excellent project management, communication and change management skills
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biology. MBA a plus.
Minimum 10 years’ experience managing a chemistry or bio-chemical production lab with a mix of manual, semi-automated, and fully-automated production processes.
