The Director, Pfizer Essential Health Communications - Biosimilars, is responsible for supporting the creation and execution of communications strategies/plans, serving as a strategic communications advisor to senior leaders, advancing the external profile for Pfizer’s biosimilars, and developing and implementing effective issues management plans. This includes leading the execution of communications and public relations initiatives to help shape the operating environment and support commercial objectives around the world.
Specific areas of responsibility include leading elements of the biosimilars portfolio (inline and pipeline) communications strategy, business development and point of contact for regional activity.
This position requires the integration of communications and business expertise to develop effective strategies and implementation plans to support the biosimilars Inflammation portfolio priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the development of biosimilars communications, public relations and issues management initiatives for on-market and pipeline products.
• Act as point of accountability cross portfolio &; corporate to support the parts of the regional business teams to deliver key biosimilars proactive and issues management activity
• Deliver strategic communications counsel and support to senior leaders and across functions, including Commercial, Investor Relations, Medical, Regulatory, R&;D, Legal, Global Policy and Public Affairs, and Global Health &; Value, to ensure alignment across business unit (BU) initiatives and issues, as appropriate.
• Support Senior Director, Biosimilars Communications in developing and executing communications initiatives for stakeholders to enhance the business’ value and reputation.
• Create tools to advance biosimilars education and advocacy initiatives, e.g., position papers, presentations, press materials, and talking points.
• Guide development of tools for in-market colleagues to support implementation of communications strategies.
• Support Senior Director to develop (with media team) of press releases, standby statements, Q&;As, and key message documents.
• Work with country colleagues to ensure that strategies are implemented and that appropriate in-market resources enable execution.
• Ensure that the needs of the brands are built into core product and above-brand strategic planning.
• Educate communications colleagues on key business unit challenges.
• Keep current on the competitive landscape, market dynamics and external forces that impact the business and its reputation.
• Ensure communications activities are in compliance with Pfizer policy, regulatory and legal obligations.
• Develop and track appropriate metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communications programs.
• Plan and manage budget, and operate within established guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 14 years experience in developing and delivering communications strategies and plans in a large, complex organization.
• Ability to navigate a dynamic and evolving environment and think innovatively to develop new approaches.
• Must possess executive presence and be able to interact with senior leaders confidently to gain trust and offer strategic advice.
• Extensive external, media relations and internal communications experience.
• Knowledge of how to use communications to influence stakeholders.
• Strong issues management skills and experience.
• Hands-on crisis and reputation management experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of the business and the ability to translate business needs into strategic communication plans that advance objectives.
• Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
• Ability to counsel and work successfully with senior executives.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and levels and to manage through influence.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Proven experience in researching, developing, delivering and measuring communications strategies and plans.
• Ability to translate complex information into clear and concise messages.
• Ability to work against tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once and maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Strong analytical, planning, and project management skills.
• Excellent business judgment and the understanding of when to escalate sensitive issues.
• Proactive, self-starter, and able to work independently.
• Significant experience in healthcare/pharma sector communications required; knowledge/background in biologics or biosimilars preferred.
• Education: Bachelor''s degree required.
