In this role, you will be the Head of Strategy, Partnerships & Corporate Development and work closely with our business leaders and executive team to drive strategy, end-to-end M&A and partnership planning and execution. You will have thoughtful opinions about App Annie’s business model, industry, and adjacent technologies. You will lead highly visible strategic projects that will have a significant impact on the direction and performance of the company.
The scope of your role spans from strategic insights and opportunity sourcing to transaction negotiation and execution. You will be responsible for owning relationships with potential partners and for shepherding transactions. You will rely heavily on your ability to build relationships and consensus from internal partners, including as part of the Executive Team, and when working with our Board of Directors.

You have a consistent track record owning multiple and challenging projects and ushering them through ideation to completion. You excel in both communication and analysis and can quickly and intuitively grasp how new products, complementary business models, and creative transaction structures could impact App Annie from a strategic and financial perspective. Your instinct is to approach opportunities with a strong ownership mindset.

As a former strategy consultant, investment banker or leader of an in-house Corporate Development team, you are passionate about shaping App Annie’s growth strategy and strategic deals in a highly dynamic market. You must be able to work independently with a hands-on approach and you will report to the CEO .



How will you be doing this?

Corporate Strategy: Support delivery of business and corporate development insights and recommendations to senior executives around strategic partnerships and M&A opportunities. Coordinate with the Business Units and Corporate FP&A to develop the three year operating and valuation models for fundraising, IPO, and acquisitions, including providing input on assumptions, levels of return and strategic value to App Annie.

M&A Strategy: Develop our M&A strategy across key strategic themes. Support the M&A transaction process from identification of potential targets to close, leveraging prior M&A knowledge and experience. This includes deal origination, valuation, negotiation, structuring, diligence, project management, and deal execution. Maintain relationships with investment bankers, consultants, and the investment community.

Market Insights: Closely monitor capital, M&A markets, and share insights with company leadership. Conduct research, analysis, and provides recommendations on important strategic decisions (e.g. new markets to enter, new ways of bringing capital to the platform, and strategic partnerships).

New and Existing Enterprise Partnerships: Identify enterprise level opportunities to work with third parties to deliver new products and services to App Annie’s customers and to reinforce strategic competitive advantages. Manage existing strategy partnerships. Drive key elements of App Annie’s strategic partnership approach and pipeline by identifying potential partners, analyzing economics, managing the deals from inception to close.

Relationship Building: Identify and build trust with internal stakeholders and external network including the private/public investor community, financial advisors, investors, law firms, consultants, strategic partners, customers, vendors, Founders/CEOs, and Executives of potential partners, investments, or acquisition targets. Management and coordination of large and complex transaction teams, comprised of members from the business units, corporate functions and external resources such as outside legal counsel, consulting and accounting teams. In this role, you will need to ensure that the teams understand the transaction process, help the team identify and understand key issues and risks in the transaction and drive the team to recommendations and decisions on deal points. Preparation of presentations to the senior executive team throughout the transaction, including updates on the transaction, leading discussions, and providing recommendations to resolve issues.



What will you bring to the team?

15+ years experience in strategy, partnerships, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions. Engineering and product management experience are highly desired.

MBA (or equivalent) and 2+ years experience at post MBA level at a top-tier consulting firm / investment bank or an in-house Corporate Development team. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or computer science or related field.

Well networked with the private/public investor community. Experience managing external contacts such as auditors, tax accountants, investors, investment bankers, industry analysts, law firms, consultants, strategic partners, customers, vendors and others.
Sound business acumen and analytic skill – an ability to consider and balance risks and issues arising from various areas (accounting, legal, tax, compliance) and make sound business decisions. Ability to quickly grasp complex business strategies and identify downstream operational implications.
Able to build credible relationships so the individual is seen as a trusted, respected advisor. Excellent interpersonal and leadership qualities; ability to collaborate effectively using broad range of influence styles to drive desired results; works well with others and is considered a true team player.
Excellent project management skills. Highly organized, detailed oriented and poised, especially under high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios. Skilled at analyzing problems and arriving at clear decisions; able to distill information, gain clarity of ideas, synthesize, and then define next steps for execution.
Strategic thinker who develops a passion for the business and a deep understanding of market dynamics. Demonstrated success in scaling revenue and underlying operations for a global business. Data-driven leader with a deep appreciation for data. Strong analytical skills and ability to improve ROI. Adept at quickly interpreting relevant data to drive business decisions.
