The candidate will be required to add immediate value to this exciting, fast paced environment while taking responsibility for the entire Global EHS program. This full-time position is based in Menlo Park, CA. The Head of Global EHS will be responsible for creating strategies, and developing, managing, and implementing the Global Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program for Facebook. This position will lead global EHS programs from a systematic perspective and integrate them into Facebooks business culture. This position will have overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities and recommending and implementing changes to methods. This position will also collaborate with all departments and function as necessary for effective and sustainable compliance.
Develop/improve, implement, and oversee administration of comprehensive EHS programs and policies
Assess risk and advise on acceptability of risk in realms of EHS
Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS and PESC regulations, standards, and requirements
Influence leadership and senior management to ensure compliance, achieve continuous performance improvement, and integrate EHS performance objectives into standard business processes.
Develop, integrate and execute corporate strategy, policies, processes, and actions throughout the global organization to ensure EHS compliance
Develop, align and implement EHS goals, initiatives and objectives that align with corporate objectives, business needs, and operations.
Establish strategic planning process to include a business plan for growth that leads to cost-effective and compliant operations and products based on risk and cost/benefit analyses.
Ensure strategy, policies and programs are integrated and reflective of local and regional sites.
Ensure the adequate assessment, prevention and management of EHS issues and risks arising from operations and company products.
Track, interpret and analyze business impact of EHS and product compliance laws, standards or regulatory initiatives that impact the company
Makes appropriate proposals for projects requiring implementation of changes to Facebook business systems to comply with new requirements by required dates.
Define options for Facebook compliance with requirements and ensure implementation plans and policies are in place and effective.
Maintain governance and accountability systems to ensure goals are met
Develop fast solutions to correct deviations.
Maintain and improve ISO14001 systems, processes and certification.
Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
Assume a leadership role in developing and promoting a positive EH&S culture by maintaining a visible presence directly and through their team in all geographic areas.
Establish strong relationships with site leadership to ensure EH&S is considered in all aspects of the business.
Work in partnership with direct reports cross functional teams and other regional leaders to ensure effective deployment of resources and global standardization of processes and systems.
Champion Behavioral Based Auditing and Incident Investigation programs.
Establish and lead the implementation of site safety and environmental programs for all levels of the facilities.
Participate on Leadership team and manage departmental budget.
Manage country, state, and local regulatory aspects of safety programs, including compliance with applicable safety, as well as other applicable regulations, company requirements, and guidelines.
Provide oversight related to compliance with environmental regulations governing air, water, waste, and all other business facets.
Promote continuous improvement in EH&S performance through training, program enhancements, and culture changes at all levels of the organization. Drive data driven approaches to continuous improvement.
Drive reductions in safety incidents and NOV’s. Utilize/Modify existing systems and programs to identify safety trends and establish corrective actions to permanently reduce facility incidents.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge in EHS and product, systems and tools, compliance
10+ years of experience in progressively increasing management roles in EHS, product compliance and operations
Background in a manufacturing and R&D environment
Knowledge of global product safety compliance regulations, standards, requirements
Knowledge of global EHS regulatory programs, codes, guidelines, agencies, ISO14001
Knowledge of chemistry and chemical safety
Knowledgeable in MS Office Applications. (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
Willingness and ability to travel 25%-50% of the time.
Ability to make decisions affecting employee health & safety or facility compliance.
Ability to interpret regulations when no specific guidance exists for decision making.
Ability to incorporate company requirements and guidelines into site specific programs.
