The role will be accountable to understanding the FinTech landscape and producing thought-leadership publications about the emerging technologies. It will be client facing and will therefore require a candidate who can meet with senior clients and present materials to discuss the technologies and the overall trends. The role may also engage in specific consulting projects to evaluate and select different technologies for business needs at our clients.
The role will operate in close liaison with the FinTech team at Citi Ventures and the Markets principal investments team who make strategic investments in emerging technologies that are disrupting the overall capital markets ecosystem.
Critical Success Factors
The BAS team is global and operates a very flat organizational structure, giving all resource on the team lots of exposure to senior clients and senior stakeholders within Citi. The candidate will need to have the gravitas to operate at various levels of seniority internally and externally.
In 2017 we plan on conducting a detailed analysis on the disruption of the Investment Management industry and then publishing a whitepaper either in Q4 or Q1 2018. Therefore the candidate will need to immediately take ownership of the work stream that will drive this output.
The candidate will need to understand in a sufficient level of detail the existing functional and technical architecture of Investment Management firms so that they can interpret the enablers being produced by FinTech companies. They must also have an aptitude for conceptual and predictive thinking.

Qualifications
A minimum of five years relevant work experience in financial services and/or financial services technology
Knowledge of the Investment Management industry and associated business functions, including product manufacturing and distribution
Good understanding of Capital Markets industry infrastructure and trade flows between participants
Insight and knowledge about the ‘FinTech’ industry and a personal network with key players (VC companies, technology companies etc)
Management consulting experience and experience with developing frameworks and assessment models for industry growth and evolution.
Ability to understand and analyse current and future state functional and technological architectures
Ability to develop future state vision architectures that overlay new products and services enabled by technology.
Ability to conduct primary research and produce whitepapers summarizing trends and conceptual models
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or technology
Ability to think conceptually and interact with a creative team
Presentation skills are critical – we will require each candidate to demonstrate their ability to deliver slides to an audience.
Self-starter who can own their analysis and deliverables, and operate independently as BAS are often spread out around the globe working on parallel initiatives.
