The Director will provide leadership, management, and direction to Managers, Technical staff, and 3rd-party resources. The Director is responsible for managing key Tier 1-4 level applications and the delivery of solutions for the “Customer To Cash”, “Account To Report” and “Supply Chain” process areas. The Director will work closely with business units and decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
This position will report to a Sr. IT Director of Strategy and Service Delivery and work closely with a variety of teams within the organization.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Management and Leadership
1. Provide input into the overall vision, innovation and execution of information technology solutions and production support, ensuring support of company's business objectives.
2. Provide direction and effectively lead by example to ensure that all services and systems are meeting the stated business objectives on a timely basis with excellent quality, at a reasonable cost.
3. Plan at a strategic/ tactical level and manage the effective use of resources and direct assigned staff to design, develop, maintain, and implement major, highly complex systems and/or projects supporting a business and/or technology area.
4. Develop and monitor effective evaluation metrics and reporting mechanisms to ensure the impact of the IS strategy is translated quickly into performance in a clear and measurable way.
5. Provide senior level escalation and approval per DOA authority.
6. Represent IT holistically in steering committee meetings.
7. Manage multiple technologies and/or projects of major business significance.
8. Set level of risk taking, and gather/synthesize information to all appropriate levels of the organization.
9. Assign projects and direct activities through all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
10. Appropriately delegate while maintaining accountability; sees that projects are assigned by workload and capabilities
11. Identify, propose, and influence business solutions, negotiate deliverables and requirements across multiple business customers or organizations; manage the approval of IT projects.
Business Knowledge & Partnership
Partner with senior leadership to provide technical and business guidance.
o Interact with IT leadership to ensure their needs and projects are known and supported according to agreed upon priorities

Educate and negotiate with Business leadership and management and with broader management/technologists to ensure successful development, deployment, and ROI on business solutions.

Build and leverage effective alliances within and across the technical and supported IT/business
Continually define ways to increase internal customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.
Implement proactive strategies that solve business problems and drive operational excellence through collaboration with business leaders.
Responsible for day-to-day management of relationships with software vendors, contracts, and service providers.

Provide consistent and clear written and verbal communications to the executive team, peers, and team members.
Support, translate and communicate the short and long-term objectives of the department to the team members and peers.
Educate and influence customers on the most effective use of technology, from both a short-term and long-term perspective
Communicate effectively with customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.

Management of the operational and fiscal activities (budget/expense) of his/her department and provides input for the creation/modification of policies, standards, and practices as needed.
Develop/implement a tactical and/or operational plan to achieve the vision.
Manage operational and project budget at a management level.
Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the team/product portfolio.
Ensure the company’s internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with community expectations and applicable laws and regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility.
Define a robust set of metrics that truly measure the effectiveness of IT services on a global basis.
Set and achieve service level agreements by leveraging efficient, scalable processes and metrics that measure the true impact on the customer.
Be a point of escalation and issue management.
Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
People and Talent Management
Translate the strategy of Medtronic and IT into clear team goals and objectives and monitor progress accordingly.
Executes the talent management vision with direct reports in accordance with Medtronic HR policies.
Participate in the recruitment, training, retention, and organization of staff and provides routine updates to senior management on progress.
Mentor direct reports to ensure that their goals and objectives are clearly set and are in concert with the mutual goals and objectives across the organization.
Participate in all programs and enforce all policies relating to performance evaluations and career development planning.
Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements with particular emphasis on architecture, and develop a talent acquisition plan.
Review management evaluations for consistency and calibration.

10+ years of IT experience
