This Director, Global Strategy will be responsible for strategic, commercial, and financial evaluation and implementation of a broad range of business initiatives across the NBA, WNBA and D-League. These will include developing strategies to support organic and acquisition-driven growth in existing and new business lines across domestic and international markets and working with business leaders to execute these strategies. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for project management and oversight of initiatives, lead multi-disciplinary coordination across departments within the League, and liaise with professionals for project-based support.
Lead financial and quantitative analysis of projects that span multiple League departments
Lead fact-based modeling efforts for a range of business initiatives
Manage and serve as subject matter expert on the NBA's Strategic Priorities and growth initiatives.
Support the analysis and execution of strategic deals, including commercial partnerships, joint ventures, and investments/acquisitions
Coordinate and manage cross functions for multi-disciplinary working groups across the League offices in the U.S. and internationally
Perform research across diverse categories
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of senior internal and external constituents
Required Experience & Knowledge:
Required Skills/Knowledge
Outstanding quantitative, financial, research, modeling, and problem-solving skills
Strong knowledge of corporate finance and basic accounting
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Self-starter who can work independently within set objectives
Experience working and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
The right candidate will be able to explain, and where needed, defend her/his analysis both verbally and in writing
Experience Needed
Minimum 8 years of work experience
Minimum 3 years consulting, banking, private equity or media corporate finance experience from top-tier company/firm(s), or equivalent NBA experience
International experience preferred but not required
Managerial experience preferred but not required
Educational Background Required:
BA/BS degree required; Top-tier college/university preferred
MBA preferred but not required
