The Compliance Director is responsible for leadership, strategic development and implementation of Abbvie’s compliance program. Specifically, this position supports the Global RD and US Commercial and Analytics (CAO) organizations. The Director performs the following with moderate supervision from the VP, Ethics and Compliance Officer, Business Compliance Support:
Key responsibilities:
Serves as primary liaison to business leadership
Actively engages with business partners to understand and provide proactive compliance guidance on proposed strategic and tactical initiatives
Provides strategic direction from a compliance perspective to support all levels of business functions (including Global RD, HEOR, Global Medical Affairs, US Commercial, and CAO)
Develops strategy related to compliance risk assessments, trend analysis and provides recommendations for compliant business activities.
Provides strategic insight to development of KPIs/metrics relating to relevant compliance areas
Manages staff supporting RD and CAO business partners
Develops strategic plans relating to OEC’ s comprehensive training program in areas supported
Operates independently with autonomy and limited supervision
Provides guidance and direction to all levels of management related to compliance
Demonstrates strong leadership competencies and may serve as delegate for VP, ECO
Develops and oversees strategies relating to corporate and/or functional monitoring plans and any corrective actions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Coordinates with business relating to IRO audits.
Develops staff to enhance their knowledge and job skills to maximize performance and to adhere to current company and global regulatory requirements. Independently resolves complex issues.
Understands global legal requirements and best practices, and keeps abreast of new developments.
Develops internal network of business partners in RD/CAO and collaborates with them on compliance program enhancements
Leads cross-functional teams relating to compliance strategies and execution
Position Accountability / Scope
Reports to VP, ECO, Business Compliance Support. Assigned matters have significant impact to company ethics & compliance program. Operates with autonomy and limited supervision.
Ensures, maintains and improves global collaboration specific to ethics and compliance. Assesses impact on compliance program and makes necessary changes as dictated by external developments, the business environment, and technology.
Defines annual goals and strategies to align with business goals and objectives.
Strategically partner with Legal and other areas of OEC. Makes presentations to stakeholders as needed.
