This position will lead the Targeted Immunotherapy group in Targeted therapeutics Discovery group, Oncology Research, Pearl River, NY to advance Pfizer’s preclinical and clinical understanding of immune cell retargeting strategies against tumors. The position is high visibility and an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to shape and influence the strategic directions and portfolio of the immune cell redirected targeting platform at Pfizer. The position will lead and manage a number of research project leaders, and along with protein engineering colleagues, will direct the development of novel bispecific redirected T cell targeting platforms.

Responsibilities
• Formulate the platform and program strategy of bispecific redirected T cell targeting. Work closely with CSO of Targeted therapeutics group, Oncology Research to shape the strategy and pipeline of bispecifics immune cell targeting. Overall accountability of preclinical pipeline of bispecifics in targeted therapies group. Participate in cross functional teams to integrate tumor immunology with tumor biology, protein engineering, biomarker and translational biology to develop the next generation of therapeutic immune cell retargeting compounds.
• Lead a team of Biology project leaders in collaboration with protein engineers to develop the redirected T cell targeting platforms and build and advance therapeutic pipeline.
• Serve as interface between early clinical groups and the research unit to develop translational biology and biomarker strategy for novel, immune cell retargeting compounds entering clinical development.
• Will serve as a key advisor to Oncology Research and Development unit project teams and leadership to identify small and large molecule programs for combination studies with immunotherapy compounds.
• Collaborate with Oncology Therapeutics Discovery unit to identify and validate novel targets
Organizational Relationships:
• Collaborate with Biomedicine Design protein engineers to develop platforms for immune cell retargeting
• Collaborate with the Oncology Therapeutics Discovery unit to identify and validate novel targets
• Collaborate with the In Vivo Pharmacology and BioMedicine Design PK/PD groups to design and interpret studies that investigate efficacy and PK/PD relationships.
Supervision:
Will supervise 3 or more direct reports. Will supervise a group of ~15 colleagues. Also could supervise post-doctoral fellows. Further will work in a matrix environment and collaborate with several colleagues across the company to influence project direction of bispecific immune cell targeting platform and pipeline.
Qualifications
• Ph.D or postdoctoral experience in immunology or related fields.
• 10+ years of post-graduate research experience
• Demonstrable knowledge/expertise in the fields of T-cell biology, tumor immunology and immunotherapy.
• An in depth understanding of state of the art methods relevant to exploration of tumor interactions with the immune system, and evaluations of candidate immunotherapeutics.
• Experience in the design and implementation of relevant in vitro and in vivo studies to explore immunotherapeutic approaches to target tumors.
• Strong knowledge of translational biomarkers relevant to T-cell activity in the tumor microenvironment.
• Experience managing early stage therapeutic research programs, and demonstrated success of moving projects forward to clinical evaluation.
• Exemplary record of research, as evidenced by publications and patents.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivation and demonstration of strong team behavior and leadership skills.
