Director of Tax- International will provide tax planning and strategic tax support to the Expedia, Inc. group. The candidate will work in collaboration with business units (both domestic and international) to manage international tax planning and controversy. The successful candidate will be able to clearly articulate his/her findings to management through written and verbal communication.
Director of Tax- International will report to the Head of International Tax and will assume a leadership role within the Tax Team and be responsible for the mentoring of a U.S. based team.

General Responsibilities:
• Provide proactive tax advice, develop international tax strategy and drive the implementation of solutions
• Partner with business leaders, tax, finance, treasury, legal teams, external advisers on various business and tax planning matters
• Advise on international tax aspects of business expansion including entering into new countries, reorganizations, and cross-border transactions involving multiple tax jurisdictions
• This individual will be involved in international tax aspects of IRS audits and certain foreign country local income tax audits
• Drive process improvements through the use of technology to streamline tax controllership responsibilities
• Ensure transactions are properly researched and documented
• Review contracts and collaborate with tax and legal department to ensure contracts contain key terms that are consistent with global tax structure and to minimize potential tax risks to the company
• Monitor and analyze existing and proposed tax legislation and assist with defining and implementing appropriate local country tax planning strategies
Ideal Candidate:
• 10 - 15 years of experience including public accounting or law firm experience. Industry experience in the technology sector is preferred.
• LLM or Masters in Taxation required
• Experienced in US taxation of international transactions and planning for foreign operations
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to senior management
