We are seeking a forward-looking Director of Public Relations to oversee PR initiatives for JLL’s largest U.S. businesses. This player-coach will drive the development of modern, progressive strategies and plans:

This player-coach position supervises two PR teams that counsel and serve JLL’s investor and occupier businesses. The focus of the position is the Investor Services business, which includes capabilities in Capital Markets, Agency Leasing and Property Management. For this business, the candidate will play a hands-on role, crafting consistent messaging, managing media relations and orchestrating aligned communications tied to integrated marketing plans.
Oversee the PR function for JLL’s U.S. national business lines, providing leadership and strategic direction in the development of innovative PR strategies, messaging and content
Manage team of five PR professionals ranging from Associate to Senior Manager, directing organizational design, budget, operations, workflow and professional development
Perform proactive and reactive media relations, including crisis and reputation management
Guide content development, conference participation, speaking opportunities, earned media, and securing of awards and recognition
Develop external and internal communication strategies for Investor Services at the national and local level, advising senior business leaders in overall messaging and business narrative
Direct executive communications to properly position members of leadership, align messaging, and coordinate communications and internal touch points
Orchestrate strategic communications prompted by acquisitions, organizational and personnel changes, shifts in strategy, and new products and services
Advise clients on PR strategies for their JLL-led transactions and assignments
Form partnership with Directors of Marketing and Research for Investor Services business, as well as the Director of Corporate Communications, who is responsible for investor communications, M&A communications, external executive communications and crisis management, both globally and in the Americas
Select and manage PR firms and external contractors
Drive creation of content that marketing and sales can use across multiple channels to drive lead generation and conversion events
Oversee measurement practices and communicate results to various constituents
Ensure company vision, values, brand positioning and visual identity are reflected in all communication initiatives
Develop deep understanding of commercial real estate industry and JLL’s businesses, capabilities, clients and results
CANDIDATE PROFILE
With 15-20+ years overall experience, this individual will be a proven B2B communications leader and strategic thinker.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Deep, hands-on experience in both PR and internal communications, including messaging and issues/change management
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing a team
Experience with companies whose businesses involve the financial markets strongly preferred
Experience working in matrixed environments and leading by influence
Ability to thrive in a transaction-driven sales culture
Expertise in influencing business strategies and aligning communications with commercial objectives
Ability to adapt plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges, industry shifts and economic changes
Experience using research and industry insights and best practices to drive strategies and tactics
Executive presence, with proven ability to advise and engage leadership-level stakeholders, with appropriate level of confidentiality when required
Demonstrated business acumen
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and hands-on experience with a wide array of traditional and digital channels
Current on trends in brand journalism, news gathering and distribution, social media and self-publishing channels
