As a member of VMware’s worldwide Finance and Accounting team, the Revenue leader will be responsible for VMware’s worldwide revenue group. This involves leading the Deal Collaboration Team (DCT) which is a group of deal specialists working on non-standard arrangements, owning the revenue forecast for the company every quarter, the revenue operations team and all aspects related to the accounting of revenue.

This leader will be accountable for driving integration alignment between all revenue-related areas within the organization, including enhancing and monitoring operational and accounting based controls, policies and processes; forecasting; develop, analyze, and report business intelligence analytics; interpret and assess revenue accounting treatment for new business models and large complex arrangements; and develop and drive revenue recognition curriculum for customer facing groups within the organization.

This role will interface extensively with Sales, Sales Operations, Product Marketing, Legal, Sales Finance, and BU Finance groups and requires a strong track record of being able to partner and influence change. Business acumen and a deep knowledge of software and subscription revenue recognition rules are key attributes being sought for this role. This position will also be responsible for monitoring and enhancing when necessary, internal control documentation and ensuring compliance with all revenue related operational and accounting controls.

Requirements
• BS or BA in Business or Accounting and CPA
• 15 - 20 years of experience in Accounting / Finance; including at least eight - ten years of leading a team and up to ten years of relevant experience specifically related to complex software arrangements
• Expertise in all accounting rules relating to software and services revenue recognition.
• Expertise in working with External and Internal Audit teams and being comfortable presenting to Senior Management.
• Experienced in providing strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, counseling and development to direct reports as required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate the effective writing of internal and external documents and to effectively facilitate decisions and achieve results.
• Working knowledge of the new accounting standard, ASC 606 and the experience to drive the team and company through the transformation to the new accounting rules.
• Ability to establish goals and action plans, set realistic timetables, and monitor progress towards their completion.
• Open to travel when needed to visit the teams in remote locations
